Binfield FC fall to narrow defeat Vs Basingstoke Town

Binfield FC’s resilient Moles fall to a 1-0 defeat against the Isthmian League leaders Basingstoke Town on Tuesday night.

George Reid’s 75th minute strike earned Basingstoke all three points to keep them at the top of the Isthmian South Central table. The Moles were reduced to ten men in added time after Massimo Giamattei was dismissed for a second bookable offence, which marked the end of a frustrating evening for the Moles, despite showing their ability to compete against the league’s top sides.

The first ten minutes of the game were fairly even and it remained that way until James Beauchamp managed to keep the ball under control in the area, but couldn’t manage to find the space to get his shot away. It was then when the game really started to open up and have some real fire. Simon Dunn’s spectacular 25-yard free kick came closest to breaking the deadlock for Basingstoke but his effort was equally matched by Harvey Rackley-Hayes in the Binfield goal.

The sides make their way to the changing rooms at half time.

Basingstoke came close again just before half time through Sam Argent as he broke through the Moles defence, only to be denied by the left hand of Rackley-Hayes, who again was a big presence, as he has been throughout the whole campaign.

Harvey Harry, who scored a brace in Binfield’s last match , came closest for the Moles after he managed to capitalise on a rare Paul Strudley error as he dropped Brad Pagliaroli’s cross, only to have his effort cleared off the line…

Basingstoke’s class pulled through, and their dominance and quality in attacking areas showed, when George Reid picked up the ball on the Basingstoke right hand side, before cutting inside and finishing into the far corner to send the Basingstoke fans behind the goal into pandemonium. This was Reid’s 12th goal of the season, in just 22 appearances, and he showed why he’s one of the most feared attackers in the Isthmian League.

Binfield’s Connor Holland searching for a goal…

Basingstoke showed their experience, and just why they’re competing at the top of the league, as they managed last fifteen minutes of the game superbly and managed to secure all three points.

Binfield’s frustrations from the night seemed to worsen as Massimo Giamattei was sent off for a second bookable offence, after a challenge on the half way line was punished by the referee.

Binfield pip Isthmian League play-off rivals to three points

Binfield found a way to all three points against another one of their Isthmian League South Central playoff rivals Chertsey Town on Saturday afternoon. The Moles arrived at Alwyns Lane with no recognised centre-back, with Liam Gavin missing out. The victory means the moles are just two points behind 5th placed South Park, who also claimed all three points as they hosted Leatherhead.

With a 500+ crowd, it was important to start on the front foot, and the moles did exactly that as James Beauchamp had the ball in the back of the net after just two minutes, only for it to be ruled out for offside, mid knee slide.

It didn’t take long for the Moles to have the ball in the back of the net again, this time it was Brad Pagliaroli who scored his 8th goal of the season and put himself at the top of Binfield’s goalscoring chart.

Chertsey responded in double quick fashion, as Johnathan Hippolyte managed to poke the ball home from close range, after a save from Harvey Rackley-Hayes, just two minutes after the Moles opener.

The Moles started the second half bright, and it was Beauchamp on the scoresheet as he slid the ball under the goalkeeper, after some excellent football to restore the Moles’ lead just five minutes into the second half. This was James’ 5th goal of the season for the Moles and he proved again how crucial he can be to this Binfield side.

It was Chertsey who were able to put a bit of pressure on the moles, but despite this, didn’t really challenge Rackley-Hayes in the Binfield goal. It was resolute defending from the moles, with Hobbs and Bayley performing well together as a centre defensive partnership for the first time.

Haylock full of praise for his high scoring Binfield side

Binfield manager Garry Haylock has been full of praise for his Moles side after their 3-0 win at Hill Farm Lane as they brushed Ashford Town aside to secure more crucial Isthmian League points…

Haylock admitted he was “really pleased” with one of his new recruits Will Shaw, who played the full 90, as did James Beauchamp who scored his first goal since the Tavistock away game at the end of October.

“We asked the players for a fast start and you can’t get much quicker than 90 seconds.”

Harvey Rackley-Hayes, who re-joined the club last month, has played in place of the injured Chris Grace and it was “Only for two excellent saves from Harvey that kept us ahead.”

“At half time we talked about keeping our tempo and discipline and the chances will come.

“The third goal killed the game, and we were delighted to get a clean sheet.”

Haylock also said that it was “Great to see a good crowd at the game and felt this helped towards inspiring the player’s performance, and Friday night’s game is just a step forward before Wednesday night.”

FOUR-midable display see’s Binfield earn three points at Hill Farm Lane

A fantastic first half including four goals for the Moles is more than enough to see them see off Tooting and Mitcham who, despite a consolation goal, couldn’t rally the troops for a comeback. It was a classy display, especially from winger Jonny Efedje who put himself top of Binfield’s goalscoring table, taking his total to 8 goals for the season.

Two goals for winger Jonny Efedje, a rare half volley strike from Liam Gavin and a cool finish from Massimo Giamattei saw the moles bounce back from their defeat to Southall on Saturday. The win see’s the Moles move above Hanworth Villa to ninth.

The first came after just 15 minutes as Efedje’s quick reactions meant he was able to poke home Curtis’ cut back after some fantastic play down the left-hand side by Taylor Morgan meant he was able to find a Binfield shirt inside the box.

It was then a Liam Tack corner, played to the edge of the six-yard area, which put the ball on a plate for Efedje again, and he rose highest to double the Moles’ advantage.

Just minutes later, it was newly appointed captain Liam Gavin’s turn to join Jonny on the scoresheet as after a half clearance from the Tooting defender, he was quickest to react as he smashed the ball home past the outstretched James Shaw.

The Moles were on top and they took full advantage as they struck again, this time through Massimo Giamattei who superbly met Efedje’s cross to strike home a third goal in 10 minutes to put the Moles firmly in the driving seat going into half time.

The Moles came out for the second half and managed the game superbly and allowed Tooting to chase the game (and the ball for a most part.) Tooting did however get what they deserved as they pulled a goal back through their number 9, Cory Walters-Wright just 10 minutes into the second half. It seemed too hard of a task for Tooting as they struggled to create any more real threat to Grace’s goal which meant Binfield were able to see out a fantastic 4-1 victory at Hill Farm Lane.

The Moles now have another 2 home games on the bounce as they face Leatherhead on Saturday, as well as Sutton Common Rovers on MONDAY night.
