U16 Tornadoes A Point From League Title

The U16 Tornadoes moved to within a point of the EBFA Div 1 title with a 5-0 win over Cookham at Kings Academy on Saturday. It wasn’t all plain sailing as Cookham made the brighter start forcing a succession of corners which were well defended by Binfield to keep the score at 0-0. Midway through the first half the home side started to find their rhythm with Riley Plant finishing a great team goal. The move started with a perfectly weighted first time ball from Evan out to fullback Freddie and four passes later found Riley bombing in at back post to side foot home.

A crazy three minutes followed with Riley adding a second as he was first to react and follow in a shot from the edge of the box then completing his hat trick with another composed finish. Three goals in as many minutes – there cannot have been a faster hat trick ever for the Moles it’s just a shame the Veo wasn’t up to capture the footage and precise timings.

The second half proved a bit stop start as the tempo slowed. Having missed a series of chances to extend the lead the Tornadoes eventually found a 4th from Lucas Jacobs before Mitch Woozley rounded things off with a 5th from the edge of the box.

Attention now turns to next week away to FAB at Bisham Abbey where a point will secure the title.
