It ended goalless between Binfield and Uxbridge on a chilly Monday evening at the Iconic Stadium.
With neither team having picked up a point in the Isthmian League before tonight, it came as no surprise that the first half was very cagey.
In a half of very few chances and with a lot of the football being played in the middle third, both teams only really had an opportunity each to open the scoring.
The Moles’ opportunity came first as some good play down the right set free Elijas Bagdonavicius down the right. He cut the ball back to Duarte Surpanu but he was unable to keep his shot down.
Uxbridge then had an opportunity of their own when Alex Witham did brilliantly to flick the ball over Harvey Griffiths but Ryan North saved well down to his right.
There were changes at half time for both teams and Uxbridge created a couple of chances after finding some joy down the left. The first chance fell to Andrio Brando and despite having time in the box, he was unable to control the bounce and direct his shot goalwards. 5 minutes later, James Taylor was unable to keep his header down from yards out.
With 10 minutes to go, the visitors were reduced to 10 men when James Taylor went sliding in Connor Jeanes.
But the Moles were unable to make their numerical advantage count. The closest they got was a brilliant corner from Charle George but Josh McMenemy was unable to get any contact on the ball. The game finished goalless and both teams picked up their first point of the season.
Next up for the Moles is a trip to The 1878 Stadium as we face Southall on Saturday afternoon.
