Binfield FC – Garry Haylock Reacts to Northwood Draw.

Binfield FC manager Garry Haylock reacts to the Moles’ 0-0 home draw to fellow Isthmian League playoff contenders Northwood FC on Tuesday night.

Speaking after the game Garry reflected on the 90 minutes of football…

“I suppose every game needs goals to make it really exciting but as 0-0 draws go, it wasn’t a bad game. We create some chances, they are good side they’re well organised and disciplined are good players and the hearts break down and we’ve been playing quite well I think we did play well tonight.
What was pleasing was keeping another clean sheet, that’s four in six now and it was something that we discussed going back probably before the first one was in Sutton Common Rovers and so we we talked about it and having a mentality and I think it looks like we’ve got that now which is which is great to see.
We’ve got to get points on the board. And it’s now about it’s not about how well we play and how many passes we make and how amazing our goals are. It’s points on the board that are the most critical now.

“We’ve played one of the best teams in the league. We’ve kept a clean sheet and we’ve got a point. So it’s hard to be disappointed. You do sometimes look and think “Yeah, we had chances and could we have had a little bit more quality from getting the balls into dangerous areas.” But it’s hard to when the players put that much effort in it’s hard to then criticise. So I thought it was a good performance, disciplined. We didn’t make any mistakes, any major mistakes and we caused them a lot of problems.

Uxbridge on Saturday, who did really well against this here and we literally threw everything at them before they went and got a couple of goals late on.

Binfield FC Vs Northwood – Match report as The Moles Draw

Binfield FC drop to fifth place in the Isthmian League after a 0-0 home draw with Northwood…

The game was a typical one where both teams desperately needed three points to help boost their playoff bids, but one with few ‘key moments’ for either side going forwards with solid defensive displays from both sides…

The game started with both sides struggling to retain possession, and with very few chances. This was before Stacey’s cross found Gurteen who’s header went just wide of the Binfield goal…

The first big Binfield chance came through Pagliaroli, who was on the end of a Massimo Giamattei cut back, which went just wide of the Northwood goal.

Brandon Curtis was the next Binfield player who had a chance to open the scoring, when McCorkell’s failed clearance meant he had space 25-yards from goal, but his effort crashed against the crossbar before being cleared.

Conor Lynch, who had netted four times in two games before tonight, had a chance on forty minutes but the Northwood goalkeeper did well to save his shot after he made himself some space in the area

Northwood, all be it against the run of play, had a big chance on the stroke of half time after Chendik’s show, which hit the crossbar, fell to former Mole Josh Helmore, but his effort was blocked…

The second half was just as open as the first with both sides still looking for that all important goal to earn all three points.

A Winser free kick was fired just over the bar early on in the second half before it was Northwood’s turn to pile the pressure on the Moles when a promising move was cleared to Jackson, who’s shot was way over the bar and was never going to challenge Harvey Rackley-Hayes in the Binfield goal.

A few half chances for the Moles saw Northwood stand strong before a well worked corner from Binfield meant that Winser could cut the ball back across the edge of the 6-yard-box to Steven Ngunga who blazed over the bar from close range, all-be-it under a lot of pressure, but a golden opportunity nevertheless.

A free-kick from 25 yards out was the closest Northwood could get to finding the breakthrough, with Shane Cojocarel’s free kick (which had Rackley-Hayes beaten) cannoned back off the crossbar and away from danger.

Overall, a brilliant game for the neutral, which isn’t often said when looking back at a 0-0 draw!

Looking forwards to the rest of the season, the moles have just four games remaining, starting on Saturday as they travel to Uxbridge, with Binfield looking to sneak back above Hanworth Villa for that 5th place.

It comes to the last kind of the last couple of games you just got to grind them out, it doesn’t matter how you do them… 1-0’s, 2-1’s it doesn’t really matter. Binfield FC’s Liam Gavin Reacts to South Park Win

“That’ll do…” Liam Gavin admits he is happy with Binfield FC’s 4-2 win over South Park FC on Tuesday night.

“It was good performance we felt we were in control for a large period of it made it was a little bit difficult at the end which has been a bit typical of us throughout the season… Four good goals [tonight] but two sloppy goals which, like I said we’ll be disappointed with but overall pretty good performance here. We’ll take that…”

“Yeah, to be fair to him [Conor Lynch] , he got a goal on Saturday and another one tonight from pressing the goalkeeper and stuff like that. So yeah, off the ball he’s been quality for us, gets us up the pitch… Builds us up gets the tempo going and stuff and yeah, he did a great job…. Good job he can finish too!”

Gavin was asked about how important Tuesday’s win was for The Moles’ play off hopes…

“Yeah, to be fair, we’d like to add a bit bit of momentum leading into this part of season had a bit of a stumbled and we’ve earlier on but yes, good time to build around. And we’ve been fortunate enough when we’ve dropped points on the team to drop points. And fortunately when we’ve picked up points, we’ve sort of made the most of it. So you’re interested in five games to go and see what we can do.”

Binfield FC Vs South Park – Match Report

Binfield FC 4-2 South Park – Match Report

The Moles run riot to keep promotion hopes alive. South Park started brightly and had the first chance of the game when the ball feel to Ethan Ford from a long throw but his effort was deflected out for a corner. Ford was then played through again minutes later but some great defending from George Winser set Binfield up on the counter. Conor Lynch laid the ball off to Connor Holland who drove at the South Park defence but his shot fell straight into the hands of Zack Basey.

Binfield broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when Jonny Denton drove into the left half of the box. His ball eventually finds Kai Hobbs at the back post who then drives the ball across goal for Holland to tap it home.

South Park had a golden opportunity to level proceedings right on half time when a free kick from the right went through everyone and found Ryan Healy at the back post. But he guided his header wide of the post from yards out and the Moles went into the break ahead.

Binfield doubled their lead on 52 minutes when ‘the new Centre-Forward’ Kai Hobbs dispossed the South Park defence and played through Lynch who dinked the ball over the stranded Basey.

It was three just after the hour mark. Brad Pagliaroli drove at the South Park defence and his quick feet earnt Binfield a free kick on the edge of the box. Centre-back George Winser stood up and planted it in the top corner as if it was a 3-yard tap in.

South Park pulled one back when Finley Johnson was played through and slotted the back past Harvey Rackley-Hayes and Johnson set up a tense final ten minutes when he tapped in his second from a couple of yards out.

Lynch put the game to bed with five minutes to go. Winser turned provider this time as he picks up the ball inside the area and finds Lynch who cooly slots home – his fourth in his last two games.

The visitors were reduced to ten men late one when Thomas Drinkwater was shown a second yellow for a challenge on the edge of the box.

The win moves the Moles into the playoffs but having played a game more than teams around them. They will look to make it three wins on the bounce when they face Northwood at home on Saturday and keep the momentum rolling.

Binfield FC Vs Walton and Hersham- Match Report

Binfield FC swept aside by 5-star Walton & Hersham – Read our Match Report Here…

Binfield’s trip to one of the top teams in the league proved a step too far in their revival. The hosts took the lead early on. In-form striker Eddie Simon forced a good save from Harvey Rackley-Hayes at his near post. But from the resulting corner, a ball played to the back post picked out an unmarked Walton man who headed it back across and Simon was left with a tap-in.

The game then opened up with the Moles trying their best to maintain possession. Brad Pagliaroli having a good chance after dispossessing the Walton defence, he drove into the box but dragged his shot just wide. Walton & Hersham doubled their lead on the half-an-hour mark as Jordan Adeyemi was played through. The chance looked as though it had gone when the Binfield defenders recovered but he cut inside and picked out the bottom corner.

Binfield responded instantly with a deflected effort from Pagliaroli that found the top right corner – his 10th of the season in the only bright spark of the afternoon. Walton and Hersham were the better team for the rest of the half despite struggling to create another clear chance.

They battled well but when Eddie Simon struck his second of the game with a great finish, it looked like it would be a very tough task to get anything out of the game. Simon’s hat trick was the pick of the bunch when he cut back and found the top right corner. They rounded off their afternoon with a free kick by Harry Mills.

A battling first half against one of the best and most organised teams in the league but the Moles will look to respond when they travel to Merstham next Saturday.

Binfield U14s finish as the County Cup runners up

Binfield FC’s side, managed by Steve Humm, fell to a penalty shoot-out defeat against a well drilled Newport Pagnell Town side in the Berks and Bucks County Cup final on Sunday afternoon. The defeat comes as heartbreak for The Moles who’s valiant effort still meant they couldn’t bring the county cup trophy home for the second time in as many seasons…

Despite finishing goalless, the match itself was an entertaining one with both sides looking to play some great football. The Young Moles were defensively solid, but struggled to find the breakthrough in the 70 minutes of the tie.

The Moles look for a goal!

The second half was another with very few big chances, but Jack Saleh, who was rarely called upon in the first 35 minutes, made two crucial saves late on to take the game to penalties… The first crucial save came mid-way through the second half when he managed to use his height to deny Newport’s 14 by tipping his 20-yard-effort over the bar. The second was probably the pick of the bunch with the Binfield stopper tipping the Newport Pagnell’s captain and number 5’s free header around the post from point blank range…

Those two saves were what earned the Binfield stopper his “player of the match award”, which was voted by representatives of the Berks and Bucks FA in attendance.

The penalty shoot-out was one of high quality, with both sides finding the target from all of their penalties, with the Young Moles being denied on their 4th and 7th attempt before Newport Pagnell Town converted all but their second (thanks to a Saleh save to his right hand side) which meant they were victorious and took home the trophy…

The loss shouldn’t be a dampener on this Binfield side, as this is their second county cup final in two years, but the penalty defeat meant they couldn’t be champions two years in a row after they were winners of this competition last time out…

Match Report – Northwood FC 0-0 Binfield FC

Read our Match report as the points are shared between 10-man Northwood and Binfield during a goal-less stalemate between the two Isthmian League play-off contenders…

Binfield started the brighter of the two sides as they tried to frustrate Northwood by keeping the ball.

It was Northwood however who had the first big chance in the game with Cojocarel coming close from 10-yards out after the ball fell to him inside the penalty area. This was probably the wake-up call Binfield needed after dominating the play for the first quarter of an hour. Pagliaroli then came close to opening the scoring for the Moles as he was able to find time and space in the area to meet Lynch’s cutback across the-6 yard-box, his effort was blocked on the line by Northwood’s Micah Jackson…

The game changing moment came just before the half-an-hour mark after Brandon Kalu was dismissed by the referee for a high challenge on Kai Hobbs.

This meant that Binfield regained a foothold in the game, with Pagliaroli causing the Northwood defence problems before shooting from range, only to be denied by McCorkell…

The Moles came back out for the second half full of energy and looked to have taken the lead early on in the second half when Brad Pagliaroli had the ball in the back of the net, only to have his efforts ruled out for offside.

The Moles looked dangerous in the final third and Lynch came close not long after, but he couldn’t find there right side of the post from close range and the scores stayed level…

Rackley-Hayes used his reflexes to deny Stewart who’s 30-yard effort looked destined for the top corner before the Moles stopper tipped the ball round the post.

At that point, it looked like the 10-man-Northwood were happy with the point as they looked to nullify the Moles threat, and didn’t look to create many chances in the last 15 minutes.

Ngunga and Beauchamp looked to offer their own threats going forwards in the last 20 minutes, by using their pace to stretch the Northwood defence. The Moles had chance with ten minutes to play when both subs combined as Beauchamp tried an acrobatic effort when he met Ngunga’s cross but his overhead kick went just over the bar…

But it was Kai Hobbs who probably had the biggest chance late on, as he lost his marker to find enough space in the box to meet Pagliaroli’s corner, but his bullet header was just wide of the post, much to Northwood’s relief.

A point was probably a fair result in reflection, but an entertaining game nevertheless….

Next up for the Moles is Isthmian league action again as we host South Park at Hill Farm Lane…

Binfield FC 2-2 Thatcham Town – Match Report

The Moles held at Home by in-form Thatcham Town – Match report

An injured time penalty by substitute Cameron Rohart-Browne earned Thatcham Town a point against the Moles on Tuesday evening.

Both teams started brightly and looked to take the game to their opposition. Thatcham had the first real chance of the game but Mo Cheesy couldn’t direct his header on target after a great ball from Ramari Medford-Smith.

Binfield then gained foot-hold in the game and took the lead in the 19th minute through in-form Conor Lynch. Some great build-up play between Conor Holland and Brandon Curtis on the right and they found Lynch in the box who tucked the ball into the bottom corner. That’s Lynch’s 4th goal in as many games.

A man in form, Conor Lynch in action!

Thatcham had a chance to equalise minutes later when Harry Williams was played through. Harvey Rackley-Hayes was quickly out to smother the first effort and Liam Gavin’s second block dealt with the remaining danger.

The Moles, who were moving the ball noticeably quicker, had a great chance to double their lead in what would’ve been the move of the match. Jonny Denton won a 50-50 on half and set up the counter attack. He found Conor Lynch down the left who linked up with Brandon Curtis. He then found Brad Pagliaroli on the edge of the box but his shot crept just over the bar.

The Moles did double their lead just before half-time. It was a swift counter again from a Thatcham corner as Pagliaroli broke down the left and picked out Lynch in the middle who slotted home to double the Moles’ lead going into the break.

Moles pressure – The Moles on top in the first half

Thatcham pulled one back straight after half-time when Ramari Meford-Smith flicked in Alfie Saunders’ set piece.

The Moles looked to see the game out and their back line, led by Liam Gavin, dealt with set-piece after set-piece. However, in the 90th minute, a ball over-the-top and a 50-50 challenge led to the referee pointing to the spot. Cameron Rohart-Browne sent Rackley-Hayes the wrong way to steal a point for Thatcham.

The draw leaves the Moles two points off the playoffs with games in hand on the teams above. The Moles travel to bottom of the league Totting & Mitcham United on Saturday looking to get their play-off push back on track.

Binfield FC 2-1 Uxbridge – Match report

Beauchamp and Lynch send the Moles into the Isthmian League Playoff spots

Binfield left it late but goals from James Beauchamp and Conor Lynch secured all three points in a dramatic final ten minutes at Hill Farm Lane on Tuesday night. Uxbridge had the better of the early stages and took the lead of the 20-minute mark when Liam Gavin’s header back to Harvey Rackley-Hayes was too short and allowed Antony Mendy to get in and provided a great finish over-the-top of Rackley-Hayes. Uxbridge had a couple of great opportunities to double their lead moment after but some great acrobatics saves from Rackley-Hayes kept Binfield in the match – the second included tipping over Alan Hedley’s header from close range.

Binfield’s best chance of the half came when Connor Holland’s free kick found Lewis Pegg but he couldn’t keep his volley down. Uxbridge then had a great chance to go two ahead before half-time after a long throw caused confusion in the Binfield defence but Liam Gavin’s goal line clearance meant the Moles went into the break a goal down.

Brad Pagliaroli in first half action

Uxbridge started the second half stronger and had the ball in the back of the net again on 52 minutes but Antony Mendy had gone too early and was flagged for offside.

Then, a moment which seemed to change the tide in the match. James Beauchamp replaced Harrison Bailey on 65 minutes. The Moles began to find their rhythm and had a penalty appeal turned away when Conor Lynch went down in the box.

Then with less than ten minutes to go, the Binfield comeback started. A great run down the left from Brad Pagliaroli and manages to slide the ball across goal. The ball appears to hit the Uxbridge defender and then come back off James Beauchamp with the ball finding the back of the net. Just minutes later, the moles took the lead.

New signing Conor Lynch, who scored on his debut on Saturday, broke through the line of the Uxbridge defence and slotted home coolly to give the Moles all three points. The celebrations said it all for the moles, as all ten outfield players joined the new man to celebrate the winner, as they knew how crucial those three points could be in the Moles’ season

The Moles were reduced to ten men late on after substitute William Mabukwa, who had already been cautioned by the referee while warming up on the bench, was dismissed for a second yellow card…

The three points sends Binfield up to fifth and was a good end to what had been a tough week. The Moles travel to Guernsey on Saturday looking to build on this momentum.
