Binfield vs Hanworth Villa Match Report

Binfield lost for the first time at the Iconic Stadium at the hands of Hanworth VIlla.

They had a great chance to open the scoring on fifteen minutes when a well-worked corner resulted in Ben Stallard finding an unmarked Connor Jeanes at the back post but from yards out he was unable to direct his header on target.

Hanworth Villa took the lead two minutes later when a corner was headed back across goal to Sam Merson whose header hit the left post and rolled into the back of the net. They almost doubled their lead when Merson got the better of Michael Stanic-Stewart and cut inside but Dan Lewis’s excellent block saw the ball go out for a corner.

The Moles had a chance to equaliser when Dontaye Whittaker got in behind the Hanworth defence. He cut back onto his right and fired his shot towards the roof of the net but Terry Buss did well to get a strong hand to it.

Hanworth looked like they would go into the break two ahead when Guy Ansah-Palmer found some space in the box from a corner. He tried to poke the ball home but Harvey Rackley-Hayes did well to both save and hold the attempt with his right hand.

Hanworth Villa did get their second five minutes after the restart when a free kick on the left was once again knocked down and Hanworth captain George Wells’ looping header found the back of the net. The visitors added a third through substitute Bruno Robertson-Tingie with a good header.

The Moles tried to get back into the game through changes in personnel including a change of goalkeeper but they struggled on a tough afternoon at the Iconic Stadium.

The Moles face a trip to Southall in the Isthmian League on Saturday looking to turn their form around.

Match report

Binfield FC fall short through last minute FA Cup goal

Binfield’s FA Cup run comes to an end in heartbreaking fashion after a 91st minute Northwood winner by Carl Stewart.

For the third time in eight days, the Moles clashed with Northwood at the Skyline Roofing Stadium and started brightly with Noah Chengun’s attempted overhead kick blocked and Troy Murray’s effort from the edge of the box tested Andrew McCorkell. Northwood then had a good opportunity to open proceedings but Harvey Rackley-Hayes denied Kofi Anokye-Boadi.

The Moles then had a good spell midway through the first half and were presented a golden opportunity to take the lead when Ben Stallard latched onto a short back pass. He picked the bottom right corner but a great save from McCorkell denied Stallard and the ball went out for a corner. He was denied again minutes later after some great play from Rechan Esprit.

Northwood then should’ve gone head before half time when Osaretin Otote had a free header at the back post but Rackley-Hayes did well to deny him.

The second half was full of chances for both teams. Northwood went close through Deago Dunbar-Bonnie and Riccardo Alexander-Greenaway. On 73 minutes it looked like they were going to take the lead after Rackley-Hayes pulls out a great stop to deny Daniel Williams and the ball fell to Dunbar-Bonnie but an unbelievable tackle from Liam Campbell prevented the shot.

The Moles then had another great chance to make it into the next round when the ball broke to Finn Harvey but McCorkell did well again to deny him and moments later Murray’s effort his the side netting.

After hitting the post, Northwood broke the deadlock in the 91st minute when a ball over the top played through Dan Williams who was able to control the ball well against an oncoming Rackley-Hayes and was able to set up Carl Stewart who put it into an empty net.

So the Moles FA Cup run comes to an end after some valiant performances against Northwood. They go again in the FA Trophy on Sunday away to Ashford United.

Binfield 2-2 Northwood FC – Honours even in FA Cup tie

Binfield and Northwood will commence battle for the third time in 8 days on Tuesday night after Northwood came from two goals down at the Iconic Stadium to force a replay in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Despite a tough afternoon against the same opponents on Bank Holiday Monday, the Moles started the brighter with some great link-up between Noah Chengun and Dontaye Whittaker. They had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Troy Murray found Finn Harvey down the right and his cross found Rechan Esprit but he couldn’t get his shot away with the goal gaping and the chance was dealt with.

They had another chance to take the lead when Zeid Hannachi found Whittaker who laid it off to Chengun but his shot was straight at the keeper.

Northwood grew into the half eventually and had a chance to take the lead when the ball found Deago Dunbar-Bonnie in the box after some swift build-up play. The Northwood full -back got his shot away but Harvey Rackley-Hayes was able to turn it behind his front post for a corner.

Binfield took the lead seven minutes into the second half when a ball over the top of the Northwood defence found Chengun who chipped the ball over Andrew McCorkell and into the back of the net. Northwood almost responded straight away when Dunbar-Bonnie put a ball straight across the six-yard box but Dan Lewis did brilliantly to turn the ball behind for a corner.

The Moles countered from that corner when Rackley-Hayes picked out Hannachi on the left who drove down the wing and found Chengun who’s first-time finish into the bottom right put Binfield 2-0 up.

Northwood pulled one back straight away after a long-throw found Harry Gallagher at the back post and he was able to finish into an empty net. Then after a period of sustained pressure, a crazy 20 minutes ended with Northwood equalising. A 2-on-1 from a Northwood short corner led to Dunbar-Bonnie having a short from the edge of the box which went through Rackley-Hayes and into the back of the net.

Both sides had chances to win it in the last ten minutes. George Winser’s last-ditch challenge denied Dunbar-Bonnie and then Rechan Esprit could only hit the side netting after a great run.

So, both teams will face off again on Tuesday evening with the prize being in the draw for the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

Binfield FC vs Northwood Match report – Moles fall to league loss.

Read our match report from our Bank holiday defeat to Northwood FC at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

Despite a much-improved second half, the Moles suffered their second league defeat at the hands of Northwood at The Skyline Roofing Stadium.

Northwood started the game stronger and had an early chance when in-form Osaretin Otote worked some space at the back post but he was unable to find the target. Harvey Rackley-Hayes then denied Dan Williams with a strong left hand after being played through over the top of the Binfield defence.

Northwood took the lead from the resulting corner when Rackley-Hayes appeared to be impeded when attempting to get to the ball but nothing was given and Teddy Stacey was able to head the ball into an empty net.

They doubled their lead soon after. Good work from Otote on the right flank and he was able to pick out Williams at the back post who slotted it into the net.

The Moles then began to enjoy a bit of possession with Zeid Hannachi (who was an early substitute for the injured Tyrone Knight) able to get the better of his fullback and find Dontaye Whittaker but he was unable to get full control of the ball. Troy Murray and George Winser then both had effort from the edge of the box but both well comfortably dealt with.

Binfield came out strong in the second half and got their reward when Hannachi found Whittaker and Dontaye finished well – his second in as many days. He then had an opportunity to equalise but his attempted lob went agonisingly wide of the left post.

Northwood restored their two goal cushion through Harry Gallagher – a carbon copy of their first. Kofi Anokye-Boadi added a fourth after a swift team move.

The Moles fought hard in the second half and were arguably the better team but just lacked the chances to pull them back into the match.

The scoreline is harsh on Binfield based on the second-half performance but they will look for revenge on Saturday when we face the same opponent in the FA Cup at Hill Farm Lane.

Binfield 1-1 Chipstead – Haylock reaction

Hear from Binfield FC manager Garry Haylock as he reacts to Binfield’s 1-1 draw with Chipstead.

When describing the performance in the one-all draw against Chipstead:

‘I think we worked really hard. We got a really good reaction from the players last Friday in the FA Cup and we set a standard that needed to be matched. And for long periods of the game today we met those standards. We moved the ball well. We still have a few issues over decision making in the final third and trusting each other.’

He went on to say:

‘We have just got to learn how to manage games. Every team is entitled to work hard and come back at us and they did and had a good 15 minute spell and you’re thinking we could lose this now. And we did well to step in and then they had a man sent off and I thought we had two really really good chances and you take one of those and you win the game and it’s a different conversation.’

When talking about the response after a difficult start to the season:

’It is a brand new group and the message after the game has been. In the first game we had 9-10 people making their debut and 7 making their debut at this level. I think the pace of the game surprised everybody and now we have stepped up a little bit and we were at the pace for a lot of the game today.  The distance we have travelled after getting beat 6-0 on the first day to today’s game where we’ve had two exceptionally good chances to win the game. We are a working progress: we are at least 4-5 games behind everyone else and we will improve every game and we have the working of a good side.

When talking about how the team can use this as a platform for future games:

We set benchmarks on our work-rate and what is required.  We will take the point and move on and the message to the players would be a big backward step the first game and now we’ve taken half a step forward and it’s the start of an unbeaten run hopefully.

Binfield FC 1-1 Chipstead – Match report

Here is you Binfield FC Match report from Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chipstead FC in the Isthmian league.

Binfield get their first Isthmian League point of the season after a one all draw against Chipstead.

After a tough evening on Tuesday, the Moles started very well with some great link-up play especially between Max Drake and Noah Chengun who almost created an opening but Chengun was unable to poke home Drake’s cross.

Chipstead had the best chance to break the deadlock when Chad Goulter slid through Tom Smith but an excellent recovery from Liam Campbell prevented the shot. They then had another good opportunity but Reuel Powell-Downey’s driven shot was deflected wide.

After attempts from both Rechan Esprit and Troy Murray, the Moles took the lead when Murray found Dontaye Whittaker who did well to dribble through the Chipstead defence and slot the ball between the legs of Baldwin Kaluya – his first goal in Binfield colours.

Chipstead came out strong in the second half and it looked like they would equalise but Harvey Rackley-Hayes produced a great stop at his near post to deny Daniel Berry and a brave clearance from Michak Stanic-Stewart denied the oncoming Chipstead forwards.

Chipstead did get their equaliser on 52 minutes when Berry did very well down the left hand side and his cross around Arlie Desanges who turned the ball home from close range – his third league goal in two games.

Rackley-Hayes then denied Desanges again before Binfield had a great chance to re-take the lead when substitute Finn Harvey was played through but his shot was blocked.

With ten minutes to go, the game changed when Chipstead substitute Nathaniel Kenlock was sent out for a second bookable offence. Tyrone Knight had a couple of great chances to take all three points but both efforts were deflected behind against a resilient Chipstead defence.

A well-earned point for both sides and a much-improved performance from the Moles who will be looking to take this momentum with them when they face the tough trip to Northwood on Monday.

Match report – Badshot Lea 6-0 Binfield FC

Binfield’s Velocity Cup run is over at the first hurdle after defeat to the hands of Badshot Lea.

The hosts started the game very strong against a much-changed Moles side. Lamin Ceesay caused many problems for the Moles defence and had the first chance of the game but he was unable to find the target from close range.

Binfield’s best chance came ten minutes in when Janaid Forrester played through Dontaye Whittaker but his shot was well-smothered by Harry Caawdron.

Badshot Lea were close to opening the scoring when Nicolas Medcraft tried to slide in Ceesay but some great defending from Connor Jeanes as he turned the ball behind for a corner.

Badshot Lea opened the scoring midway through the first half when Ceesay played through Billy Oram who found Jane Caubo who turned the ball into the back post. They doubled their lead two minutes later when Ceesay found Oram who finished from close range.

Badshot’s third was a header turned in by close range by Nick Medcraft after more good work from Ceesay. William Mabukwa had an opportunity to pull a goal back for the Moles but he was unable to turn in Rechan Esprit’s cross.

It was one-way traffic for the rest of the half with goals from Reece Robins, Danilo Cadete and Steven Scylla wrapping up a difficult evening for the Moles.

Binfield are in action again at home to Chipstead on Saturday in the first game at Hill Farm Lane this season looking to bounce back after a difficult start to the season.

Match report

Binfield FC Match Report – FA Cup win for The Moles

Here is your Binfield FC Match Report from their 2-0 FA Cup preliminary round victory over near neighbours Wokingham & Emmbrook on Friday 18th August.

Binfield FC Match Report – The Moles’ FA Cup journey continues after a strong and professional performance against Wokingham & Emmbrook. A long-range effort from skipper Dan Lewis on the stroke of half-time and a late Noah Chengun finish was enough to put the Moles into the next round of the FA Cup not forgetting some outstanding saves from Harvey Rackley-Hayes.

The game started very evenly with Michael Stanic-Stewart and Ben Stallard looking to try and control the midfield battle. Binfield were handed a golden opportunity when new signing Dontaye Whittaker took advantage of a misplaced place by the Wokingham & Emmbrook defence and was brought down in the area. Whittaker himself stepped up but was denied by Emilo Fantocchio diving to his left with the ball rolling across the goal and past the right post.

Rackley-Hayes then produced the first part of a stunning performance with some incredible saves to keep the Moles level. First, he comfortably tipped Jake Woods’ free kick over the bar and then an outstanding save low down to his right to deny Michael O’Connor from close range.

This produced a launchpad for Binfield who were close to an opener when Stallard linked up with Max Drake down the right but Whittaker couldn’t turn his cross goal wards.

Binfield opened the scoring right on half time. Captain Dan Lewis stepped up through midfield and was allowed to drive 30 yards before his deflected effort looped over Fantocchio and into the back of the net. The ‘griddy’ celebration needs a bit of work however.

Binfield started the second half the better team stringing passes together and creating many opportunities but not able to find the right pass in the final third. Substitute Zaid Hannachi had a great chance to double the Moles lead after being slipped through by Noah Chengun but his shot was just tuned wide.

Whilst the lead was only one, Wokingham & Emmbrook were still pushing for an equaliser and another fine save by Rackley-Hayes kept Binfield ahead.

The victory was wrapped up in the 90th minute when Noah Chengun showed great strength to hold off the Wokingham & Emmbrook defence and then was able to poke the ball home.

Strength and fight shown by the Moles has lead to them being in the hat for the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. A trip to Badshot Lea on Tuesday in the Velocity Cup is next up for Binfield looking to build on this strong performance.
