Binfield FC manager Garry Haylock reacts to the Moles’ 0-0 home draw to fellow Isthmian League playoff contenders Northwood FC on Tuesday night.
Speaking after the game Garry reflected on the 90 minutes of football…
“I suppose every game needs goals to make it really exciting but as 0-0 draws go, it wasn’t a bad game. We create some chances, they are good side they’re well organised and disciplined are good players and the hearts break down and we’ve been playing quite well I think we did play well tonight.
What was pleasing was keeping another clean sheet, that’s four in six now and it was something that we discussed going back probably before the first one was in Sutton Common Rovers and so we we talked about it and having a mentality and I think it looks like we’ve got that now which is which is great to see.
We’ve got to get points on the board. And it’s now about it’s not about how well we play and how many passes we make and how amazing our goals are. It’s points on the board that are the most critical now.
“We’ve played one of the best teams in the league. We’ve kept a clean sheet and we’ve got a point. So it’s hard to be disappointed. You do sometimes look and think “Yeah, we had chances and could we have had a little bit more quality from getting the balls into dangerous areas.” But it’s hard to when the players put that much effort in it’s hard to then criticise. So I thought it was a good performance, disciplined. We didn’t make any mistakes, any major mistakes and we caused them a lot of problems.
Uxbridge on Saturday, who did really well against this here and we literally threw everything at them before they went and got a couple of goals late on.
