About Basingstoke Town FC

Basingstoke Town FC was established in 1896 by a merger of Aldworth United and Basingstoke Albion. They played in various Hampshire leagues in their first seventy years before joining Southern League Division One South in the early 1970s. They won the division in 1984-85 and were promoted to the Premier Division.

After a couple of years in the Southern League Premier Division, there were moved sideways into the Isthmian Premier Division in 1987-88. They bounced between the Premier Division and Division One a couple of times before being promoted to the Conference South in 2004-05. This came despite finishing fourteenth and losing the play-off to Lewes. Their promotion came as Hendon turned down the opportunity to join the new Conference South.

In 2015-16, they finished bottom of the renamed National League South and were relegated to the Southern League. This was followed by a relegation and then a sideways move to their current league – the South Central Division of the Isthmian League.

The ‘Stoke have appeared in the 2nd round of the FA Cup 3 times. The latest being in 2006–07 when they lost a replay to Aldershot Town 2-1.

Head To Head

The Moles have played The ‘Stoke away twice already this season; once in the Velocity Cup and once in the League. The Moles were 2-0 winners on both occasions.

Last season, the honours were split with the Moles losing the home game 1-0 but winning the away game at the Winklebury Sports Complex 4-1.

On Saturday, the Moles beat Bedfont Sport 3-1 whilst Basingstoke beat Merstham 3-1. Basingstoke currently sit top of the table on 47pts whilst the Moles are 6th on 37pts.

In the form guide, over the last six games, Basingstoke have taken 15 pts whilst the Moles have taken 14 pts.
