The Moles have been drawn away (again) against Tavistock AFC (the Lambs) in the First Round of the FA Trophy but before we make the 400 mile round trip to Langsford Park, lets take a look at our opponents.
Which league do they play in?
Like the Moles, Tavistock are a step 8 club and they currently play in Southern League Division One South. They were promoted twice in successive years after winning the South West Peninsula League Premier Division in 2018-19 and after two Covid hit years, winning the Western League in 2021-22. At the time of writing, they are currently sitting in the top third of the table with 14 points from 8 games.
Route to the FA Trophy 1st Round
This is the first year that Tavistock have competed in the FA Trophy. In the 1st qualifying round, they beat Kidlington away on penalties. For the 2nd and 3rd qualifying rounds they were at home where they beat Didcot Town and Melksham Town.
Previously in the FA Vase, their best was the fifth round last season where they lost 3-1 to United Services Portsmouth who the Moles beat in the Semi Final on the way to Wembley.
