Badshot Lea 1-3 Binfield FC ~ Velocity cup 03/08/2024
A very bright start for Binfield looking for a reaction, pressing very high causing a lot of pressure on the Badshot Lea defence. Harvey Griffiths was introduced to the referee’s book early on in the 15th minute. As the game progressed more and more chances occurred due to some very good football from the Moles. Lucas Wynn and Duarte Surpanu both having chances to add to the goal tally for Binfield, both defended well by the ‘Baggie’ defence. The game opened up and a goal was coming for Binfield, after some very good footwork yet again, from Mitchell Parker who drags his shot just wide. The Moles found a breakthrough in the game from Parker, with yet more very high press causing a mistake from the Badshot back line. This allowed him to run through, take it past Harry Cawdron and finish calmly to give Binfield the lead in the 34th minute.
As the second half commenced, more Binfield pressure piled among the Badshot backline creating even more chances for the Moles to double their advantage. Mitchell Parker was denied by a great save from Cawdron from a free kick, however it was put back into an area for Charlie George to get on the end of it, perfectly timed, in the 53rd Minute. Riley Robinson was introduced to the action in the 67th minute, making an instant impact by winning the Moles a penalty to seal the deal for Binfield. This was calmly converted by Mitchell Parker who sent the goalkeeper the wrong expertly. Badshot did get a consolation goal in the 93rd minute, with a very good headed finish from Lamin Ceesay.
This finished the evening with Binfield progressing to round 3 of the Velocity Cup. Our attentions change to our next opponents where we travel to Horndean in the FA Trophy.
