Below is an extract from Ross Weatherstone’s programme notes from the home game against Horndean FC;
“I feel immensely proud that the Club has been able to provide a football platform for all players and staff to progress up the football ladder. Seeing Killian Barrett sign his 1st Professional Contract at Sheffield Wednesday FC, having been pivotal to our Great Escape last season, is proof that you never know who is watching, so it’s important to enjoy playing the game and always put your talent to work come KO. I have worked with Killian since he was 16 years old, it’s not always been a smooth road for him, between us both its when we’ve hit the bumps, our biggest learning and progressions have taken place, Killian has got the rewards of exactly what his talent deserves, the real hard work now begins for him and I know everyone at the club will be watching with supporting eyes to see how he progresses.
That is now 2 professional footballers made in 6 months, with Jack Matton signing for Wycombe Wanderers FC and Killian to Sheffield Wednesday FC, I am looking forward to see who is next in line. I look forward to putting match shirts up of both players in the club house, next to an already outstanding group such as Lewis Hall at Newcastle United FC.”
