Binfield FC 4-1 Corinthian Casuals – Match report

The Moles added three more points to their Isthmian League tally on Tuesday night as they ran out 4-1 winners at the Iconic Stadium.

They fell a goal behind after just 3 minutes though, as the visitors looked to pile the pressure on the Moles’ defence early on and were successful in doing so when Andrew Herring struck home after just two minutes.

Dontaye Whittaker levelled things up instantly though, when he headed home from close range just minutes later, adding his 14th goal of the season.

The Moles then took control and after a string of chances, they eventually found the goal to put them ahead when Connor Holland was afforded space on the edge of the area before he struck a low driven effort into the bottom corner.

The Moles then added a third goal, just before the break when Whittaker caused problems after some great work on the left from the Moles. Whittaker’s effort rifled into the roof of the net and the Moles were two goals in front.

The Moles were gifted a chance to add a fourth when Whittaker was swiped out in the area but Corinthian Casuals stopper Tom Theobald guessed the right way and denied Mitch Parker a 3rd penalty goal in 4 matches.

The Moles were in cruise control for the remainder of the match and looked as if they were happy to see out a 3-1 win.

Corinthian Casuals, who were all but confirmed to be relegated before kick-off, were happy for the Moles to do this and struggled to get a foothold in the match.

The Moles also had the last say, when substitute Oke-William tapped home from close range to add a fourth moles goal just before injury time.

The result means that the Moles close the gap to just 1 point behind 19th placed Chipstead, with a game in hand on their relegation rivals.
