Sometimes it is hard to write a match report and today is one of those days. The Moles had their first away league game of the season – a trip up the A30 to Ashford Town (Middx). A side that they have not had much luck against recently and today proved to be another one of those days.
The home side took the lead in the 19th minute when Jack Arnold converted a penalty. Zidan Akers doubled the lead in the 2nd half when he broke through the Moles defence and fired it in the bottom corner.
Arnold got his second in the 76th minute and then completed his hat-trick in injury time. The home side finishing 4-0 winners. If it was not for some fine saves from Moles keeper CJ Fubler, the score could have been worse.
Hard to take away any positives today for the Moles.
After the game Moles manager Ross Weatherstone said; “I take full responsibility for the result & the performance. Taking nothing away from Tuffs & his team, they fully deserved the win but as a collective, we were no where near the levels required to win any. match! Big week ahead! I know I will have us ready for next Tues. On behalf of the players & the Management Team, thank you to everyone from Binfield that came to support the team, we gratefully appreciate you all. I apologise for the result & be rest assured, my management team & I, are already working hard to be ready for our next game”
The team have a week until their next game when they visitors local rivals Ascot United on Tuesday 25th August.
