Moles Exit The FA Cup

Binfield’s FA Cup run ended at the first hurdle with a defeat this afternoon, beaten 2-0 away at Didcot Town.

Binfield made the brighter start of the two, with debutant Dominic West producing a strong save on 16 minutes after a long ball into the left channel caused problems. Troy Williams then went close for Binfield on 23 minutes, heading just wide after good work from Brighton Morrison down the right and a cross picked out the forward. Didcot hit back on 31 minutes when Conlan struck the post from close range. The hosts made the breakthrough on 37 minutes through Owen James, and Binfield went in at the break 1-0 down with work to do.

The second half stayed tight for a long spell, West again the difference for Binfield with another sharp save down to his right on 79 minutes to keep the score at 1-0. Binfield made changes hoping to level the score but Didcot made the game safe on 81 minutes as James netted his second of the afternoon to make it 2-0.

That’s how it finished, with Didcot progressing to the next round at home to Swindon Supermarine. The Moles start their league campaign next week with a home game against Hendon FC.
