Who are Bognor Regis Town FC?

Bognor Regis Town F.C., founded in 1883, has a long history in English non-league football. They were founding members of the West Sussex Football League in 1896 and enjoyed early success, winning five consecutive championships in the 1920s. After a brief spell in the Brighton, Hove & District League, they joined the Sussex County League in 1927, where they remained until 1972. The club changed its name to Bognor Regis F.C. in 1929 and later added “Town” to distinguish themselves from the local rugby club. They achieved notable successes in the mid-20th century, including winning the Sussex County Division One in 1948–49 and moving up through the Southern and Isthmian League divisions, reaching the FA Cup first and second rounds multiple times in the 1970s and 1980s. Jack Pearce became a long-serving manager in 1976, holding the role until 2007.

In more recent decades, Bognor Regis Town experienced fluctuating fortunes, with promotions and relegations between the Isthmian League, Conference South, and National League South. The club narrowly missed out on league titles several times, often losing in play-offs, but achieved historic cup runs, notably reaching the FA Trophy semi-finals in 2015–16. Success came again in 2016–17 when they won the play-offs to earn promotion to the National League South, though they were relegated after one season. In 2018–19, the team finished 14th in the league but celebrated a major achievement by winning the Sussex Senior Cup for the first time in 32 years, defeating Burgess Hill Town 2–1 after extra time.

Head To Head

The two teams met back in November and the Rocks were 2-1 winners.

The Moles sit 17th in the league on 48 points whilst Bognor Regis are 12th on 54 points.
