Mole Secure Vital Win

The Moles produced a thrilling second-half comeback to claim a vital three points against Bedfont Sports, overturning a deficit with ten minutes to play and snatching victory in the dying seconds.

The first half passed without a goal, but Bedfont broke the deadlock five minutes into the second period when Barnett tucked away the opener to put the hosts in front and leave the Moles with a mountain to climb.

Binfield’s task became significantly easier on the hour mark when Bedfont’s Smith was shown a red card on 66 minutes, reducing the hosts to ten men and handing the visitors a lifeline. Despite the numerical advantage, Binfield initially struggled to find a way through, with the Bedfont rearguard holding firm and the clock ticking down.

The Moles drew level when Daniel-Spray found some room down the right and his attempted cross finds the top corner before the drama reached its peak deep into stoppage time. With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Ceesay showed brilliant determination down the left flank and pulled the ball back for Jones, who fired emphatically into the back of the net to complete a stunning comeback.

After the final whistle, manager Rosco Weatherstone was measured but clearly delighted, reflecting: “We’ve played much better than that and lost. To be on the right end of one of these tight games feels great. The players must take full credit – they never stopped and drove the result over the line. A solid togetherness with this group, we look forward to the last three tests.”

The Moles now sit 4 points above the relegation zone and with three games left. Next up is a home game against South Park (Reigate) at Hill Farm Lane on Saturday 11th April KO 3pm.
