About Egham Town FC
Egham Town Football Club traces its origins back to 1877, when it was founded as Runnymede Rovers before reforming as Egham in 1905. The club enjoyed early success, winning the West Surrey League in 1921–22 and becoming the first champions of the Surrey Senior League that same year. After a brief stint in the Spartan League, where they reached the Premier Division, Egham returned to the Surrey Senior League in 1933. The club disbanded during World War II and remained inactive until a public meeting in 1963 led to its revival as Egham Town. They rejoined local competition in the Parthenon and Surrey Senior Leagues before finding success in the Spartan League, winning the title in 1971–72. Continued progress saw them join the Athenian League, where they won Division Two at the first attempt and finished runners-up in Division One the following season.
Egham joined the Isthmian League in 1977 and spent the next few decades moving between leagues due to restructuring. After periods in the Isthmian and Southern Leagues, they joined the Combined Counties League in 2006, winning the Premier Division in 2012–13 to secure promotion. The mid-2010s saw two near misses in the Southern League play-offs, before the club was moved back to the Isthmian League in 2017–18. Relegation followed in 2019, returning them to the Combined Counties League, where they competed in the Premier Division North. A strong 2022–23 campaign saw them finish as runners-up and reach a play-off against Merstham, narrowly missing promotion. Their persistence paid off the following season, as Egham earned promotion back to step four for the 2024–25 campaign.
The current Egham squad has a couple of familiar faces to Moles fans; Conor Jeanes and Luke Wayborn. Both players were part of our Great Escape squad in the 2023/24 season.
Head To Head
When the teams met earlier in the season, Egham were 1-0 winners with an 81st minute penalty.
Currently, Egham sit in 10th place on 40 points whilst the Moles are in 16th place on 37 points.
