Just 48 hours after their win against Fareham Town, the Moles are back in action. This time in the Velocity Cup against Premier Division side Carshalton Athletic. They were hoping to go one better than last seasons run in which they got to the semi-final before losing to eventual winners Billericay Town.
Manager Ross Weatherstone made a number of changes to his team including the first start for striker Kickie Dzimba and the return of Toby Thompson from injury. These two were both involved in the first goal when Toby was brought down just inside the box and Dzimba sent the keeper the wrong way.
The Moles doubled their lead when Nathan Jones speculative shot took a deflection off of Laurence Ernest to loop over home keeper Matt Kerby.
In the second half, Lucas Wynn scored within 5 minutes of coming on when he calmly slotted home a shot. He could have had a second when Logan Coles disposed a defender and put in the perfect cross to Lucas. Unfortunately, the shot went over the cross bar.
An outstanding performance from the whole squad to defeat yet another team from the division above.
