Match Report / Photos – Southall

This game had a bit of a surreal feeling to it. It was being played at the home of Hayes & Yeading United, however, it was decked out in the colours and livery of AFC Richmond as the ground is used for the filming of Ted Lasso.

Both teams were looking for their first league points of the season. The first half was scrappy. The Moles had few opportunities and were often caught out by the offside trap. Ejiro Abbey managed to beat the offside trap late in the first half and the Moles held on to take a 1-0 lead at the break.

The Moles conceded a corner half way through the second half when goalkeeper CJ Fubler held onto the ball for more than 8 seconds. Southall then equalised from the resulting corner. The game looked like it was going to a draw until substitute Monty Brady lobbed keeper Hugh Sobte to give the Moles a 2-1 win.

The team face a quick turnaround as they play Hartley Wintney at the Iconic Stadium at 3pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
