About Northwood FC

A team was formed in Northwood back in 1899 but Northwood FC in its current form is believed to have been founded in 1926. Their initial history is unclear but they joined the Harrow & Wembley League in 1931 where they won an impressive six titles in a row prior to World War 2 and three more titles after the war. They spent the 1950s and 1960 playing mainly junior-level football.

The club joined the Isthmian League in 1992 via spells in the Hellenic and Spartan Leagues. This was one of their most successful periods which lead them gaining promotion to Step 3 and the Premier Division. They were then switched to the Southern League Premier Division but after relegation were moved back to the Isthmian League Division One North. Another switch back to the Southern League before they were moved back again to their current league – Isthmian League South Central.

Binfield FC’s Conor Lynch reacts to two goals at Hill Farm Lane

Binfield FC’s Conor Lynch is “Buzzing” to be back amongst the goals for The Moles in Tuesday night’s 4-2 Isthmian League win at Hill Farm Lane…

“Five big games left now. Yeah, it’s good to get three points and obviously keep the keep the win going keep the win run going as well as good.”

“It’s good to kind of be back scoring goals I went through a bit of a drought but all players do so. Yeah, it’s good.”

Lynch eluded to the team’s aspirations for the rest of the season…

“Playoffs, definitely… I was fortunate enough to do last year [With Basingstoke]. It comes to the last kind of the last couple of games you just got to grind them out, it doesn’t matter how you do them… 1-0’s, 2-1’s it doesn’t really matter. Just got to get the points on the board and get yourself in the places an end of the year….”

Binfield FC’s Liam Gavin Reacts to South Park Win

“That’ll do…” Liam Gavin admits he is happy with Binfield FC’s 4-2 win over South Park FC on Tuesday night.

“It was good performance we felt we were in control for a large period of it made it was a little bit difficult at the end which has been a bit typical of us throughout the season… Four good goals [tonight] but two sloppy goals which, like I said we’ll be disappointed with but overall pretty good performance here. We’ll take that…”

“Yeah, to be fair to him [Conor Lynch] , he got a goal on Saturday and another one tonight from pressing the goalkeeper and stuff like that. So yeah, off the ball he’s been quality for us, gets us up the pitch… Builds us up gets the tempo going and stuff and yeah, he did a great job…. Good job he can finish too!”

Gavin was asked about how important Tuesday’s win was for The Moles’ play off hopes…

“Yeah, to be fair, we’d like to add a bit bit of momentum leading into this part of season had a bit of a stumbled and we’ve earlier on but yes, good time to build around. And we’ve been fortunate enough when we’ve dropped points on the team to drop points. And fortunately when we’ve picked up points, we’ve sort of made the most of it. So you’re interested in five games to go and see what we can do.”
