Binfield FC Vs South Park – Match Report

Binfield FC 4-2 South Park – Match Report

The Moles run riot to keep promotion hopes alive. South Park started brightly and had the first chance of the game when the ball feel to Ethan Ford from a long throw but his effort was deflected out for a corner. Ford was then played through again minutes later but some great defending from George Winser set Binfield up on the counter. Conor Lynch laid the ball off to Connor Holland who drove at the South Park defence but his shot fell straight into the hands of Zack Basey.

Binfield broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when Jonny Denton drove into the left half of the box. His ball eventually finds Kai Hobbs at the back post who then drives the ball across goal for Holland to tap it home.

South Park had a golden opportunity to level proceedings right on half time when a free kick from the right went through everyone and found Ryan Healy at the back post. But he guided his header wide of the post from yards out and the Moles went into the break ahead.

Binfield doubled their lead on 52 minutes when ‘the new Centre-Forward’ Kai Hobbs dispossed the South Park defence and played through Lynch who dinked the ball over the stranded Basey.

It was three just after the hour mark. Brad Pagliaroli drove at the South Park defence and his quick feet earnt Binfield a free kick on the edge of the box. Centre-back George Winser stood up and planted it in the top corner as if it was a 3-yard tap in.

South Park pulled one back when Finley Johnson was played through and slotted the back past Harvey Rackley-Hayes and Johnson set up a tense final ten minutes when he tapped in his second from a couple of yards out.

Lynch put the game to bed with five minutes to go. Winser turned provider this time as he picks up the ball inside the area and finds Lynch who cooly slots home – his fourth in his last two games.

The visitors were reduced to ten men late one when Thomas Drinkwater was shown a second yellow for a challenge on the edge of the box.

The win moves the Moles into the playoffs but having played a game more than teams around them. They will look to make it three wins on the bounce when they face Northwood at home on Saturday and keep the momentum rolling.
