Alec Lloyd (1928 – 2023)

It is with great sadness that the Club announces the passing of one of our longest serving and most loyal supporters, Mr Alexander ‘Alec’ Lloyd, who died peacefully on Saturday morning 19th August 2023 after a short illness, aged 95.

Many at the club remember Alec with great affection for both collective and personal reasons, as a generous and caring man who for many, many years had been the face of the club whilst collecting entrance money at the main gate, come rain or shine. Latterly he was a fixture at all home games, acting as a welcoming hospitality Ambassador for visiting teams committee members. Over the years he also travelled far and wide to away games with the Secretary, Chairman and others, even acting as an unofficial ‘kit man’.

His kind and thoughtful nature was the essence of a perfect gentleman, who embraced all those he came into contact with young and old, and was an immense inspiration to many through his humility and sheer joy from the friendships he garnered through Binfield football. The twinkle in his eye and his endearing smile will always be the headline of our fond memories of him.

Alec will be sorely missed at the club, at all levels, but his spirit will live on here for many years to come.

Our sincere condolences go out to his lovely wife Julie, son Philip, daughter Sandra and their families, who are uppermost in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
