Binfield FC vs Marlow Match Report

Binfield FC’s Isthmian League Play-off Hopes were sunk by a resilient Marlow defence on Tuesday night…

The last home game of the season ended in a one-nil defeat to the hands of Marlow despite a tidal wave on Binfield attacks in the second half.

The first chance of the game fell to Binfield FC’s Brad Pagliaroli who, after initially stumbling, recovered well, cut inside and breezed past two Marlow defenders but he dragged his shot wide of the post.

Binfield FC turned on the pressure with a couple of chances falling to Conor Lynch. The first of which was some great link-up play between Ngunga and Connor Holland who played a beautiful ball across the six-yard area. All it needed was a touch for the ball to fall into the back of the net but Lynch couldn’t quite get there.

Against the run of play, Marlow took the lead just before the half an hour mark. Nawaf was played through by Simon and he had the composure to take the ball around Harvey Rackley-Hayes and slot the ball into an empty net.

The Moles came close to equalising right on the stroke of Half-Time when George Winser picked the ball in the middle of the Marlow half and had an effort that just went wide of the post.

Bar a few chances early in the half, it was the Moles that played all the football in the second half. Harvey Harry had a great chance to level things up when he was played through down the left but he scuffed his shot and the ball fell into the hands of Aaron Watkins.

Wave after wave of Binfield FC attacks followed but the resolute Marlow defence stood firm. The closest chance fell to Taylor Morgan. Holland gained possession high up the pitch and found Lynch in the box. He laid it off to Taylor Morgan who looked to place it into the top corner. It looked to be heading it but a fine right hand from Watkins pushed the ball behind for a corner.

Despite the best efforts of the Moles, it finished 1-0 and Marlow who finished the night with a hard-earned clean sheet. The Moles will look to end the season on a high with an away trip to Leatherhead on Saturday and fight to the end of the season.
