Moles Progress In The Cup

This was always going to be a tough game for the Moles – an away trip to a team that they hadn’t beaten at step 4 plus a number of key players missing through suspension and being cup tied.

This is what the Moles faced as they travelled to the Racecourse Ground to face local rivals Ascot United in the 4th round of the Velocity Cup – a competition in which Binfield got to the semi-finals last season.

The Moles had the bulk of the action in the first half but it looked like it was going to be another frustrating days as they couldn’t get anything past Ascots keeper Plumley. This changed in the 40th minute when Amari Fashnau was brought down in the box and subsequently converted the penalty.

Ascot started the second half the more lively team but the Moles doubled their lead when Kickie Dzimba scored in the 49th minute. Ascot kept applying the pressure and pulled one back when Luis Le-Paih headed one home.

Kickie Dzimba sealed the game in the 67th minute and put the Moles through to the quarter finals for the second year running.
