Match Photos / Report: Horndean @ Home – League

After last weeks FA Cup win, the Moles hoped to carry the momentum onto the start of the league season when they welcomed Horndean to the Iconic Stadium. The fixture was a repeat of the start to last season – a game which the Dean won 4-0 and one the Moles hoped to avoid repeating.

Manager Ross Weatherstone made one change from last weeks game with Ejiro Abbey getting his first start, coming in to replace Amari Fashnai.

There was nothing between the teams in the first 30 mins until Ethan Lindo scored on the counter attack. Abbey and Coles combined before Ethan took the ball off him and slotted the ball through the legs of the keeper. The lead only lasted two minutes before Lewis Olajide scored one for the visitors.

In the second half, Horndean proved to be the stronger team with three unanswered goals; Oliver Erdinc in the 55th, Brandon Chebby with a brace in the 72nd and 93rd.

The Moles hope to turn things around quickly as they travel to local rivals Ascot United on Tuesday night.
