Uxbridge FC 2-2 Binfield FC – Match Report

Binfield FC dig deep to rescue the Moles an Isthmian League point on the road on Tuesday night. Substitute Ethan Lindo scored two goals in the last ten minutes to level things up at the death.

It was the moles looked the most likely to take the lead early on, with Dontaye Whittaker bringing the ball down, but penalty appeals were waved away despite the Binfield man looking to have been taken down inside the area.

Uxbridge’s Hamilton Antonio was then cautioned for a late challenge on Whittaker, just minutes later, with the Moles man, who seemed to be causing the Red’s defence some trouble early on, shaking off any injury worries to continue.

Uxbridge had a chance to take the lead not long after, but a fantastic sliding tackle from Jack Matton was enough to snuff out Christian Johnson’s threat from the right hand side. His defensive partner, Luke Wayborn was then the first Moles man in the referee’s book as his challenge on Elijah Anthony was deemed a bookable offence by referee Thomas Berry.

Uxbridge then had another chance on 40 minutes as Anthony beat the Binfield offside trap down the right and cut inside before Matton came across to clear for a corner.

The start of the second half saw very limited action in the opening 10 minutes until Luke Paris got his head on the end of an Alex Paine corner but his effort was comfortably saved by Killian Barrett.

It was Uxbridge who grabbed the opening goal, as Christian Johnson fired home from close range as the Moles failed to clear the ball from a free-kick.

It was a set-piece again that caused the Moles issues and it was Elijah Anthony who doubled the host’s lead.

The Moles then shuffled their pack and it paid off, as substitute Ethan Lindo halved the deficit just eight minutes after replacing Rahzir Smith-Jones, as he fired the ball home to spark a Binfield onslaught for the final ten minutes.

It was Lindo again who dealt The Reds a final blow, with just minutes remaining as he pounced on a loose ball inside the area and calmly slotted home to earn the Moles a point on the road.
