Hanworth Villa 1-1 Binfield FC – Match Report

Late disappointment for the Moles as Hanworth Villa salvage a late point at Rectory Meadow.

Elijas Bagdonavicius’ first-half strike was cancelled by Hanworth Villa substitute Bruno Robertson-Tingle in stoppage time after a second-half onslaught from the hosts.

Binfield started the game well with a couple of half-chances in the opening ten minutes. The first came from some great play down the left from Rechan Esprit, who’s low cross found Dontaye Whittaker who had time to take a touch in the area, before his shot flew high and wide of the Hanworth Villa goal. It was Whittaker who had the Moles’ second chance, as the ball found him again in the area but his first-time shot was comfortably saved by former Moles stopper Harvey Rackley-Hayes who left the club in January.

The Moles found their groove and found the all important breakthrough on the 42nd minute when Elijas Bagdonavicius saw the host’s goalkeeper off his line and tried his luck from range. Rackley-Hayes did well to get a strong hand on it but it wasn’t enough and the ball found the back of the net, to spark joy amongst the Moles’ faithful.

Hanworth Villa almost found themselves level instantly but for some excellent work from Killian Barrett as he made 2 great saves in as many minutes to keep the Moles ahead. The first, a fantastic fingertip save to his right hand side before a free-kick looked destined for the back of the net before he got two strong hands on Theo Crawford’s shot and parried the ball behind for a corner. 

The start of the second-half was the same as the first, with no real clear-cut chances for either side, with both trying to get the ball into the box by any means possible (especially long-throws due to the blustering weather conditions at Rectory Meadow.)

The hosts continued to challenge the Moles defence, with more long-throws but couldn’t create much with Connor Jeanes and Luke Wayborn doing well to remain solid in defence and clearing their lines well. 

Hanworth Villa managed to find the equaliser late on though, as substitute Bruno Robertson-Tingle fired home after the Moles failed to clear the final long-throw of the evening, sparking a fiery final few minutes. Despite the hosts looking the most likely to find a second goal, they were unable to and the points were shared.


That means the Moles have now picked up 10 points in our last 6 games, in a real turnaround in fortunes and next up, is Corinthian Casuals at The Iconic Stadium on Saturday afternoon, come and back the boys as we look for three Isthmian League points.

U23’s Win Thames Valley Premier League Six Pointer.

Binfield FC U23s development side moved to top of the Thames Valley Premier League division one on Saturday afternoon as they leapfrog fellow title contenders, Reading YMCA Rapids.

The Young Moles won by a convincing 3-0 win over Reading YMCA at the Iconic Stadium. 

The match was always set to be a thriller, with the top two sides in the division facing off for three massive points. The visitors, Reading YMCA Rapids, went into the game top of the table.

The Moles goals, all coming in the first half, were from Sam Applegarth and Reegan Artman, who grabbed himself two.

Sam’s goal was his 11th goal in his last 11 appearances for the club, which is some feat.

The match finished 3-0, much to the delight of the young moles, but there’s plenty of work still left to do.

Next up for the boys is a trip to Woodley United Development on Saturday afternoon.

Ross Weatherstone Reacts to win over Hartley Wintney

After a convincing 4-1 victory over promotion chasers Hartley Wintney FC, Moley caught up with First Team manager Ross Weatherstone to talk about the win.

Moley – Ross, that’s three wins now from the last four Isthmian League games, but how does that one feel?

Weatherstone – “Yeah, I think as I said on Tuesday when we lost, I never like losing games, so to win any game of football. This one was bittersweet with me managing Hartley Wintney last year. For me it was fantastic to see all those fantastic people they bought the club before and after the game, but yeah, that one definitely felt good.“

Moley – And then obviously, Dontaye Whittaker returning from injury must have given you a boost pre match, but he certainly made an impact on the pitch, just talk us through his performance.

Weatherstone – “He didn’t start the game that great. He’ll even tell you himself, he felt a little bit leggy, and then probably got a second wind. The goal helped him, deliver a really good performance for the team. It was never an issue point Dontaye back into the team because I knew what I was gonna get out of him and my key messages to him and any forward players you know, breaking with pace is making sure we get in the box and on the end of crosses and Dontaye scored two goals from two crosses and as any good striker does, he’s in the box at the right time to make sure that they clinical and they hit the back of the net.”

Moley – And then Ethan Lindo has scored in three consecutive matches now, how important has he been the last few weeks?

Weatherstone – Yeah, he’s still young so we’ve got to manage him but he’s he’s come in and been fantastic. Ethan is someone I’ve worked with for a while. So obviously, as a young player, I understand how you get the best out of him. And I think that’s a key piece in relation to how you develop young players. You know, Ethan is someone that definitely has a lot of talent but you have to put that talent to work. And since he’s arrived to be with you, you know, he’s listened to the instructions from me and the coaches. And I’m really, really pleased that he’s getting some success. You know, he’s scoring some real crucial goals for the team and long may that continue.

Moley – You were 3-0 up it up at the break. What did you sat to the lads at halftime? A very good performance, I guess?

Weatherstone – “Quite the opposite, actually. I actually went into halftime and got stuck into the team to be honest with you. Because, looking at the performances that we’ve made over the last three or four games, we’ve not started well. So I basically just got into them and highlighted that they can’t go out there half out the second half and replicate, a bad 15 minutes, which could cost them the win. So, for me it was it was more a case of making sure that they were focused on the job in hand because, that’s one of the things that I want to want to develop is part of the process, which I talk about a lot in relation to developing confidence in the group. You’ve got to know how to win football matches, and you know, I’m delighted to the winner in the second half and delivered a real professional performance to go on and get the win.“

Moley – And onto the second half, Jack Matton has been so solid in defence in recent weeks, but he grabbed himself his second goal for the club, just talk us through that.

Weatherstone – “Yeah, listen, he’s been a brilliant and he’s, you know, Jack has been really committed to the cause which is pleasing as he was one of my first signings that I brought in. The goal is scored with everything that we have been working on, in training, the technical detail to watch the ball, come down and volley it across the goal.It’s definitely not one of the centre half I suppose, if we’re going to stereotype but, you know, he definitely got back has potential and obviously I hope that we can continue with this football club to give him a platform to develop his skills.“

Moley – And it finished 4-1, just talk us through how the players were after the match.

Weatherstone – “For me, they were brilliant, we were a class act. I think it’s fair to say that there are a lot of crossovers between the two clubs with regards to players and staff.
Theres some ex Binfield players over at Hartley (Wintney) and vice-versa, which happens a lot at this level. So yeah, after the game, I just was really impressed with how they conducted themselves but more importantly, you know, we still celebrated that success.”

Moley – Moving forward to Tuesday night, how important is it to kind of channel that professional performance and the confidence gained from it and build that into three more points.

Weatherstone – “I think everyone would have thought that in using the word belief a lot, because I think sometimes even now, you know, we get some successes, you know, in some results and performances genuinely mean it when I say if the current group continue to believe, but even the method is believing the information given to them. You know, they can continue to to perform and upset some of these teams that are challenging for promotion. I think if they continue to believe in themselves and the team that’s what I want to make sure that that we bring into the game against Hanworth Villa and create some performances that replicate this one. Obviously I appreciate there’ll be some bumps along the way in that part of the process. But yeah, for me, it’s just reinforcing the belief in what we’re doing. Because I think if we can continue down that line, then you know, we’re going to compete in every game and that’s, that’s the most important bit for me.”

Binfield FC Ross Weatherstone reacts to Southall win…

After the Moles’ first home win of the 2023/24 Isthmian League season, Moley caught up with first team manager Ross Weatherstone to ask him all about the match against Southall FC.

Moley : Ross, congratulations on your first home win as Binfield first team manager, sum up your feelings for me after that one. 

Weatherstone : “Yeah, it feels better than last week based on the events that happened after the game. It was nice to be able to celebrate the three points properly. It was great to get the chairman and everyone involved in the club in the dressing room after the game. The aim is to bring the club together, galvanise and celebrate the hard work that everyone is doing and it’s really nice to see some smiles back on faces in and around the club.”

Moley : Two wins on the bounce, but it’s not going to be job done until the final game of the season. Just talk us through the next few weeks and the rest of the season.

Weatherstone : “Before I answer that, I would just like to say, Southall were outstanding today… There was moments and patches in that game where as I thought they they were excellent and demonstrate why they were second in the league. But to move on, the two wins that we’ve just had – I have to give full credit must go to players for listening. They’ve executed the game plans, we’ve been resilient in a defensive structure and then, we’ve had opportunities, we’ve been clinical. There’s still a long, long way to go and as far as I’m concerned, the process has just started. I do want everyone to continue to BELIEVE.  I want everyone to continue to support us because, as I think I’ve said a number of times, we’re going to need everybody if we’re going to replicate today’s performance, and build a base for results in the coming weeks.”

Moley : You spoke there about the defensive resilience, just sum up how well they played today.

Weatherstone : “I always talk about the whole team from a defensive structure and that starts from our frontline. They all have a duty to make sure defensively we set up correctly and I think obviously the forwards always get the success when they score goals.  It’s equally as important that the defenders and the goalkeeper get the reward when you keep a clean sheet. I think that’s the fantastic and testament to the work that you know that they’ve put in today. You know, massive shout out to Reese (Jones-Junior) at right-back, Tutts (Charlie Tuttle) at left-back who is obviously come back to The Club and I thought Luke (Wayborn) and Jack (Matton) in the heart of the Defence. They were fantastic as a new partnership, and then on top of that Killian (Barret) as the goalkeeper made a massive save against Met Police in the last minute last week and as equally kept us in it today. The more that they can continue to stay grounded and continue to work on making sure that their performance is that level, it’s going to give us as a football club every opportunity to to achieve what we all want.”

Moley : And it took 94 minutes today to find the break through in a tight game. Just of speak to us about the goal and kind of your emotions when that ball hit the back of the net.

Weatherstone : “I look back at Ascot then we got we conceded one late on, it’s never nice to be on the receiving end but it’s  equally as nice when you do get on the opposite end and we’re celebrating a goal for ourselves. You know, I think in the way that we’ve defended today we’ve definitely earned that opportunity. I think the goal today summarises how the performance was… They didn’t quit on any of the opportunities and Ethan being the forward that he is, finished fantastically to get the win today. More importantly, the celebrations after the goal not just from the players, seeing the supporters celebrate with the players behind the goal.

It was just fantastic.”

Moley : And the games don’t get any easier, Westfield next at the Iconic Stadium, talk to us about that one…

Weatherstone : “Yeah, well, Westfield scored five goals today and I was here and I’ve had a good victory, so it’s not going to be easy. As far as I’m concerned, I want to focus on our team and I want to try and make sure that any wounded soldiers that we might have picked up anything from today are okay. We need to make sure that they’re managed over the next 24/48 hours, to make sure that we can go into Tuesday’s game, ready to replicate what we’ve done today, which again was show fantastic heart and attitude to the club and to get the more points on the board…”

Binfield FC 1-0 Southall FC – Match Report

Late drama at the Iconic Stadium sees Binfield FC win at home for the first time this season.  

An injury time winner from Ethan Lindo was enough for the moles to collect all three Isthmian League points on Saturday afternoon. 

The visitors, Southall FC, who are high flying at the top of the Isthmian League, visited the iconic stadium having lost only one of their last nine games. 

A tense match with very limited clear-cut chances was goal-less at the break but Binfield managed to secure the win late on as Ethan Lindo broke free on a counter attack in injury time. The goal sparked jubilant scenes at the Iconic Stadium as the ball passed Southall stopper Michael Edegbe and into the back of the net for his second goal for the club.

Despite a late onslaught from the visitors, the Binfield defence were able to stay strong and keep a clean sheet in what is a huge win for the moles. 

Next up is another home match on Tuesday night, as the moles face Westfield FC at the Iconic Stadium.

Binfield FC secure first win of 2023/24.

Binfield FC earned three vital Isthmian League points on Saturday afternoon as we ran out 2-1 winners upon visiting Met Police. The match, which was under doubt ahead of kick off due to the sub-freezing weather conditions during the week.

Binfield opened the scoring in the 16th minute through a Ben Stallard free kick that riffled past Liam Beach in the Met Police goal.

The hosts responded well and found an equaliser just 6 minutes later through Alex Body who slotted home Kebuasi’s cross.

The second half grew in intensity and it was the Moles who grabbed the only goal in it, when Tyler D’Cruz, who scored for the Moles on Friday night, grabbed his second goal for the moles since joining from Reading City in December.

The Moles, despite some late scares managed to hold on and grab their win though, a result that could prove vital come the end of the season.

It’s been a long time coming, but the Binfield FC earned themselves three Isthmian League points on Saturday afternoon as they were 2-1 winners at Met Police’s Imber Court.

After the match, ‘Moley’ caught up with Ross Weatherstone to discuss the match, his first win since being appointed as first team manager in December.

Moley – “Ross, congratulations your first win as Binfield FC first team manager, could you sum up your feelings about the result?”

Weatherstone – “Yeah, I can’t stress enough how pleased I am for the players, officials, members, supporters and everyone at the football club that we could get the win. From my point of view, I was confident and I believe in the work that we were doing together, so to get to where we got to today – and ultimately getting three points.Looking at our scoreline against Ascot and I feel today, we’ve got some just rewards in certain areas.”

Moley – “There’s been a lot of change on the pitch as well as off it since you’ve come in, but one of the one of the players has been involved for a while now is Ben Stallard. Could you talk us through the opening goal, his brilliant free-kick?”

Weatherstone – “Yeah, to be fair to him, he hit a fantastic free kick against Ascot which was brilliantly saved. This was in a similar kind of position, probably more towards the right hand post if you’re if you’re looking down at the goal and believed in his technique and it was a fantastic finish He was unlucky not to start last week against Ascot and today’s come in and it’s given his all for the team so I’m really pleased for him.”

Moley – “Obviously, it wasn’t all positive this afternoon. There was the equaliser from Met Police just minutes after our opening goal, could you talk us through that?”

Weatherstone – “The confidence is an area that we’re working on at the moment and we’re looking on building the the character and the personality of the team. The goal itself was a cross from deep and probably, with the pressure Killian was under, he probably should have punched rather than tried to catch it,  and off the back of him getting contact has dropped the ball. It wasn’t necessarily a pretty goal if that makes sense for from our perspective. What I will say on that is, at the very end Killian has made an outstanding save to win us the game as well.

So it’s, I think it’s just again, just a process piece where we are where we are at the moment but we’re really really pleased that he was able to make up for his mistake and win us the three points at the end there.”

Moley – “It was Tyler D’Cruz’s goal that ended up being the winner on the afternoon. Could you talk us through that and then a quick word on the injury he sustained shortly after?”

Weatherstone – “You know, his work ethic is was fantastic. The goal that he scored was something that we’ve been working on in training – in terms of how we how we want to enter the 18 yard box and Rechan (Esprit)  did really well to get his shot off just from the left edge of the box. Their ‘keeper made a save but Tyler was there following up. He fully deserved that goal for his work in the shift that you put in the afternoon. 

Obviously I’m really disappointed. Tyler suffered an injury off the back of chasing down a loose ball.

But that aside, I just want to give a massive shout out to shout out physio Salil who I can’t stress enough has been outstanding in relation to the support and care that he’s given Tyler.”

Moley – “And looking forward to the next few games, we spoke when you joined about kind of opportunities and next next couple of weeks ( although they are obviously a tough games against Southall and Westfield) provides us with two home games in a row – Saturday, and then Tuesday night as well, just talk us through those matches and how you’re going to approach the next week or so?”

Weatherstone – “Yeah, so the nice thing is is we now have a Tuesday-Thursday where we can get some training in and we can work on what we are about as a team. Obviously, we know, they’re going to be tough games.

As I said to the team, we as long as we continue to show the levels of commitment and the desire and the ability to execute the game plan we want to go out there and upset both sides and obviously get some more points on the boards for Binfield.”

Binfield FC 2-3 Ascot United – Match Report

Binfield 2-3 Ascot United – By Dan Humphrey

A late Ascot winner ensures Binfield start 2024 with a narrow defeat.

Manager Ross Weatherstone gave debuts to goalkeeper Killian Barrett and centre back Jack Matton, who has recently joined The Moles on a dual registration from Woking.

Ascot started the brighter of the two sides, with Ben Harris forcing a save from debutant Barrett low down to his right. 

The Yellas then took the lead in the 12th minute, as ex-Mole Liam Tack found the back of the net with a composed finish. Binfield equalised soon after, as Tyler D’Cruz nodded home a superb cross from Isiah Blankendal.

A lack of chances for the rest of the half ensured it remained 1-1 at the break.

Into the second half, and it was another former Mole in Ollie Harris, who’s whipped cross found Liam Tack, who headed over the crossbar.

The lively Ollie Harris then had a chance of his own, with his near post header just missing the far corner.

However, it was Binfield who took the lead, as debutant Jack Matton converted from close range.

Harris then looked to equalise almost instantly for Ascot, forcing Barrett into a superb diving save. Binfield made their first change just after the hour mark, as Archie Coulter replaced the injured Isiah Blankendal.

It was Liam Tack who equalised for The Yellas, stabbing home from close range to get his second of the night.

Substitute Stallard then forced Sobte into action in the Ascot goal with a fine save from a set piece.

However, it was heart break for the home side, as debutant and goal scorer Matton turned into his own net late on, condemning Binfield to a late defeat. 

Binfield now turn their attention to Tuesday 16th January as they welcome South Park to The Iconic Stadium.

Binfield FC – Isthmian League double header

The Moles are in Isthmian League South Central division action this week as they host Uxbridge and Ascot United at the Iconic Stadium. The two sides sit comfortably in 12th and 13th spots in the Isthmian League table, but both suffered home defeats this weekend.

Tuesday see’s us face Uxbridge in our first game of 2024, after poor weather so far this year has meant two postponements. The

On Friday night, local rivals Ascot United take she short trip to the village, after the match was moved forwards in an attempt to attract a larger crowd to the Iconic Stadium in what should be an entertaining match.

It will be a good chance to see Ross Weatherstone take charge of his team for the third and fourth time this season and find the all important first win to try and strengthen the team’s league campaign.

Binfield FC – Andy Bullett joins coaching team

‘Bully’ joins as part of Ross Weatherstone’s backroom staff as an important member of the team to help during a transition process for the first team. 
Bullett, was Weatherstone’s assistant with the Binfield FC development side during their previous spell with the club in 2019.

He spoke to club media after yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to Guernsey and admitted his “excitement” upon returning to the club. 

Andy was in the dugout, alongside Weatherstone, after he met the squad on Thursday night when he supervised Keith Pennicott-Bowen’s session while Weatherstone travelled home from a recent holiday.

Bullett admitted that the current situation is a “huge challenge” but one that the management team will “ensure we do everything we can” – as he made his assessment of the squad after watching them compete in the Isthmian League South Central for the first time.

Binfield FC Vs Badshot Lea – Match Report

Badshot Lea eventually break down a resilient Binfield defence as they take all three points home from The Iconic Stadium.In a first half which saw all four seasons including torrential rain, chances were few and far between.

Badshot Lea had a penalty shout midway through the first half when Adam New’s flick on from Kai Allsopp’s corner hit the hand of Tristan Noel but the ball hit Noel’s thigh first and therefore no penalty given. 

They then had the ball in the back of the net when Allsopp was played through and slotted it between the legs of Harvey Rackley-Hayes but he started his run too soon and was flagged for offside.

Badshot Lea continued their pressure into the second half and the Moles had Harvey Rackley-Hayes to thank for keeping them out. First, a great turn from Latin Ceesay led to him drilling his low but Rackley-Hayes did well to deny him and then get up quick to stop the rebound.

Allsopp then was able to beat Rackley-Hayes midway through the second half but the ball ricoshaded back off the post.

The Moles defence was eventually broken ten minutes to go when an Allsopp corner was headed by New and it  hits the head of Noah Chengun then back of New and into the back of the net. They then got a second when substitute Nick Medcraft low effort found the bottom corner. Then with the last kick of the game, Lanin Ceesay added a third after cutting inside.

The Moles have a week off next week before they return to the Iconic Stadium where they face Thatcham Town.

Binfield FC Vs Hartley Wintney

Hartley Wintney blow Binfield away with a clinical performance at The Iconic Stadium. 

After a nervy start from both sides, Elihas Bagdonavicius fired the visitors into the lead on the half-hour mark as he turned Marcio Neves’ cross into the roof of the net. Provider turned scorer for The Row as Neves was in the right place at the right time as he got on the end of Taylor Morgan’s cross as doubled his side’s lead.

Former Binfield man, George Winser added a third just after the break through a well-stuck free-kick to put Hartley Wintney 3 goals ahead.

Connor Juanes’ header at the back post was saved before his re-bound was clattered home, pulling a goal back for The Moles. 

Dontaye Whittaker took his chance to put his name on the scoresheet for the fourth consecutive game as Murray, who stole the ball off Coulter who dropped Knight’s cross, squared the ball to Whittaker who’s composed finish looked enough to set us up for an exciting final ten minutes.

 It was then game over as Kayne Jobson grabbed Hartley Wintney’s fourth in the 87th-minute through Aheader. 

It was another former Binfield player who was on the scoresheet for Hartley Wintney, as Liam Gavin added a fifth in injury time, rubbing salt into the wounds of The Moles.

The Moles are back in Isthmian League action on Saturday 21st October as we face the trip to Corinthian-Casuals.

Westfield 7-2 Binfield – Match report

The Moles suffer defeat at the hands of Westfield on a chilly Tuesday evening in Woking.

Westfield took the lead in the 11th minute when Archie Taylor found some space on the left wing and did well to get the better of Jimmy Bamgbose and he drove into the area and fell over the leg of Liam Campbell and the referee pointed to the spot. Jake Better successfully converted from the spot.

The Moles then soaked up a bit of pressure before starting a counter attack ending Bamgbose being brought down by Taylor. Dontaye Whittaker slotted the spot kick well into the bottom left corner to make it three goals in as many games.

Westfield retook the lead midway through the first half when a Westfield corner was knocked down to Baxter who was able to turn and fire it into the left corner to double his tally for the game.

Both teams had great chances right on half-time. Firstly a swift Westfield move involving Manolis Gogonas, Baxter and Crossley who found some space in the area but Nicholas Harvey did well at his near post to deny him. Then the Moles should’ve been level when Whittaker found Troy Murray on the right who put in a great ball for Blesk Ekpengong but he was unable to keep his effort down from close range.

The Moles were level five minutes into the second half. Esprit finds Murray on the right who plays in Max Drake. He plays a teasing ball into the area and it is bundled in by Bamgbose – his first in Moles colours.

Westfield restored their lead minutes later after Jacob Breckon’s effort was deflected and completely wrong-footed Harvey. They added a fourth when Theo Lang’s long range effort also found the back of the net via a deflection. Jake Baxter completed his hat-trick when he nodded in a corner from close range – his sixth goal in five games.

They add a sixth through Mayoke Adaje after a great solo run and he added a second in injury time.

The Moles go again on Saturday when they face Hartley Wintney at the Iconic Stadium.

Binfield FC 1-1 Chertsey Town – Match Report

Binfield earned their second Isthmian League point of the season with a well-deserved draw at the Iconic Stadium.

After a quiet first half, the Moles had the best chance at the end of the first half when Troy Murray played through Jimmy Bamgbose but he was unable to get his shot away and then from the resulting corner Michael Stanic-Stewart was able to head the ball back across goal but Rechan Esprit’s shot was well blocked.

Chertsey then had a golden opportunity to take the lead early into the second half when the ball was played through the Gianluca Totti but Nicholas Harvey, on his Binfield debut, did well to close down the angle and turn the ball behind for a corner.

Esprit then tested Nicholas Jupp from long range who did well to get down to his left and then on the hour mark, Dontaye Whittaker was played through and bought down in the area with referee Stephen Hawkes pointing to the spot. Whittaker picked himself up and sent Jupp the wrong way to give the Moles the lead.

Then they had a couple of opportunities to double their lead but Murray’s shot was blocked and Ben Stallard’s effort was straight at Jupp.

Chertsey got their equaliser with ten minutes to go when Toby Little’s free kick was nodded in by Liam Flanighan. They thought they had won it when Gareth Chendlik headed in six minutes later but linesman Ricky Ansher had his flag up and the points were shared.

That puts the Moles two points from safety and they face 18th place Metropolitan Police at the Iconic Stadium on Saturday.
