Rayners Lane Fc

For the second time in just over two weeks, the Moles face Rayners Lane FC – this time at the Iconic Stadium.

Matchday: Tuesday 1st April 2025. KO: 7.45pm

Who are Rayners Lane FC?

Rayners Lane Football Club, founded in 1933, has a rich history of navigating through various football leagues. Initially joining the Spartan League in the 1960s, the club experienced periods of transition, including a brief return in the 1970s where they reached the Second Round of the FA Vase. After joining the Hellenic Football League Division One in 1978 and winning the league in 1981-82, they faced challenges like relegation in 1994 due to floodlight issues. The club moved through several leagues, including the Middlesex and Chiltonian Leagues. In recent years, they’ve seen significant success under managers like David Fox, Ben Hanley, and Warren Gaddy, winning their first Middlesex Premier Cup in 2023 and securing promotions to Step 5 and Step 4 in consecutive seasons.

Head To Head

When the two teams met in mid-March, Rayners Lane were 5-2 winners with the Moles goals coming from Ethan Lindo and Tyler D’Cruz.

Last Saturday, the Moles beat Met Police FC 2-1 whilst Rayners Lane beat Hayes & Yeading 1-0.

5 Goals In 6 Games For Ethan

Binfield U13 Fire Win In The Sun

AFC Newbury 1-4 Binfield U13 Fire

With the sun shining and confidence high, Fire took an early lead through Alex direct from a corner.  With Oscar playing some attacking through balls it was only time before we scored again, and we did with Ben heading in an Alex cross.

Newbury started coming back into it and scored a break away goal as we finish the first half with a goal lead.

Into the second half we continued with attacking intent with Erian restoring our 2 goal lead with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box.

With Carter kicking brilliantly throughout we were always quickly on the attack.  As we moved towards the end of the game Lama stole the ball from left back before crossing for Ben, who gave the keeper no chance in scoring his second of the game.

Match Report: Met Police – Away

The Moles travelled to Imber Court to play the Met Police with both teams were sitting not too far from the relegation zone.

They took an early lead when Ethan Lindo slotted the ball past the Met Police keeper in the 8th minute. After 26 minutes the lead was doubled when Luke Wayborn’s long throw eventually found Connor Jeanes who puts it back over the top for Razhir Smith-Jones who finishes into the far corner – and that is how the first half finished.

Met Police must have had some team talk at half time as they pulled one back after only 2 minutes in to the half. They thought they had equalised late in the game when they had the ball in the back of the net but after a long discussed, the officials ruled the goal offside.

An important win for the Moles which now puts them 10 points clear of the relegation zone with 6 games left – but more importantly, there are three teams between them and 19th place.

The Moles are back at the Iconic Stadium when they welcome Rayners Lane hoping to get revenge for the 5-2 defeat a couple of weeks ago.

Introducing: Met Police FC

Metropolitan Police FC

The Moles return to Imber Court to play Met Police for what will be an emotional visit after the events of last season.

Date: Saturday 29th March 2025
KO: 3pm

Who are Met Police FC?

The Metropolitan Police football club was established in 1919 and initially played friendlies before joining Division One East of the Spartan League in 1928. They won their division in their first season, and after league reorganisation, the club won the Premier Division title in the 1929-30 season. The club has won multiple titles and cups, including the Surrey Senior Cup, London Senior Cup, and League Cup. In 2010-11, they won Division One South, earning promotion to the Premier Division. The club has made several appearances in the FA Cup first round, with the most recent being in the 2018-19 season. They were transferred to the Premier South division of the Southern League in 2017-18 as part of the restructuring of the non-League pyramid.

Last Season

The Moles travelled in mid January to Imber Court to play the Met Police without a win. The Moles took their first win thanks to goals from Ben Stallard and Tyler D’Cruz which become the start of the Moles Great Escape.

But it was the events in the last 10 minutes of the game that will live forever in the history of both clubs. Vying for the ball, Tyler D’Cruz fell and hit his head on the perimeter fencing. The outstanding assistance and teamwork from members of both clubs ensured that Tyler is still playing football for the Moles this season.

Match Report: Westfield Away

The Moles travelled to Woking to play Westfield hoping to break their three game losing run. The game didn’t start well when, after 9 minutes, Westfield broke down the pitch after a Moles attack and scored.

Mitch Parker could have scored after 25 minutes only to have one of his trademark free kicks was saved by Westfield keeper Lewis Gallifent. The Moles did equalise after 40 minutes when Ethan Lindo brilliantly controlled the ball and beat the Westfield keeper.

Westfield regained the lead 15 minutes into the second half when a free kick was played into the box and was pushed away by the Binfield keeper, but only to fall to Adebiyi, who lobs it over the keeper and into the back of the net. Substitute Dan Lewis drew the game level when he scored from close distant. In the final minutes, Moles keeper CJ pulled off a number of saves to ensure that the game finished 2-2.

The Moles now travel to Ember Court on Saturday to play the Met Police hoping to build on this draw and move up the table.

U16 Tornadoes A Point From League Title

The U16 Tornadoes moved to within a point of the EBFA Div 1 title with a 5-0 win over Cookham at Kings Academy on Saturday. It wasn’t all plain sailing as Cookham made the brighter start forcing a succession of corners which were well defended by Binfield to keep the score at 0-0. Midway through the first half the home side started to find their rhythm with Riley Plant finishing a great team goal. The move started with a perfectly weighted first time ball from Evan out to fullback Freddie and four passes later found Riley bombing in at back post to side foot home.

A crazy three minutes followed with Riley adding a second as he was first to react and follow in a shot from the edge of the box then completing his hat trick with another composed finish. Three goals in as many minutes – there cannot have been a faster hat trick ever for the Moles it’s just a shame the Veo wasn’t up to capture the footage and precise timings.

The second half proved a bit stop start as the tempo slowed. Having missed a series of chances to extend the lead the Tornadoes eventually found a 4th from Lucas Jacobs before Mitch Woozley rounded things off with a 5th from the edge of the box.

Attention now turns to next week away to FAB at Bisham Abbey where a point will secure the title.

Binfield U13 Fire – Back to Winning Ways

Maidenhead United 2-4 Binfield Fire

Fire were quick out the blocks and playing some lovely passes with plenty of attacking intent, creating lots of chances from through balls and corners. We took the lead when Alex whipped in a corner which Yuvi headed against the upright, as Maidenhead cleared it fell to Max whose shot dropped to Erian who scored from just inside the box.

Against the run of play Maidenhead broke forward and their forward skilfully dribbled through before equalising just before half time.

Fire again were controlling the game with plenty of shots coming before Maidenhead broke away to score against the run of play to take the lead.  This spurred Fire on and went straight on the attack and with Erian laying the ball off for Ben to curl a first time shot round the keeper.

With the bit between their teeth Fire continued to attack through the middle where the spaces were opening, and Erian followed in his own shot which came off the post to give us a deserved lead.

As Maidenhead pushed for an equaliser with Evelyn controlling midfield and the defence pushing forward the ball was played through to Erian, who superbly completed his hat trick, leaving the goalkeeper stranded.

The coaching team were again proud of the efforts and attitudes of the players.

Match Report: Ashford Town – Home

It was Friday Night Football at the Iconic Stadium as the Moles welcomed Ashford Town (Middx). The game was important for both teams as the Moles wanted to create space between themselves and the bottom four whilst the Tangerines were trying to get out of the relegation zone.

After a dry week, the rain started as the match started which seemed to set the tone for the game. There were few chances for the Moles in the first half. Ashford had a couple of chances including a save from CJ which kept out a shot from Vorster and somehow missing an open goal.

The deadlock was broken at the end of the first half when Ashford took the lead as Arnold put the ball in the back of the net after the ball had been ricocheting around the box and the Moles failed to decisively clear.

In the 60th minute, the Moles brought on Brighton Morrison and Jamie Hilton to replace Razhir Smith-Jones and Rechan Espirit. The change seemed to work when the Moles scored from a cross from Brighton on the right hand side. However, the goal was given offside for reasons that I can’t explain until I see the video footage.

Ashford prevented the Moles from any further attacking opportunities and the game finished 1-0 to Ashford which lifted them out of the relegation zone.

The Moles travel to Woking on Tuesday night to play Westfield.

U18s Allied Maintain Title Challenge

The Moles U18s Allied team responded well to last week’s disappointing result and with the 2-1 win last night against Wokingham Town U18s, they are still in title race, although they need a couple of results elsewhere to bring it down to our last game of season v Reading City.

The team went 1 nil up a few mins before half time with Adam Cowley who followed up on a Matt Tweed shot. They went back out in the 2nd half and extended their lead through Ellis Smith – a strike from outside of box. They should have been 3 up soon after but they hit the bar.

The game changed when they gifted a goal to Wokingham which made the last 25 minutes hard work with the team missing an open goal and a Will Braver clearance off of the line.

The team move onto the Subsidiary Cup of 4 games at the Iconic Stadium on Thursday 27th which will see the appearance of some of the U16s in preparation for next season.

Friday night football is back at the Iconic Stadium. The visitors this time are Ashford Town (Middx).

Matchday: Friday 21st March 2025. KO: 7.45pm

Who are Ashford Town (Middx) FC?

The club was established in 1958 as Ashford Albion and joined Division Two of the Hounslow & District League. They were promoted to the Premier Division in 1964 when they adopted they current name.

They joined the Combined Counties in 1990, the same year that they add Middx to their name to avoid confusion with a club in Kent that shared the same name. They finished as runners-up in 1993–94, and won the league the following season. They then went onto win the league three times in a row and again in 1999-2000 when they were promoted to Division 3 of the Isthmian League.

After a promotion to Division 2, they were then moved around several divisions and league before being transferred to the South Central Division of the Isthmian League at the end of the 2017–18 season.

Head To Head

The head to head record between the two clubs are fairly even. The Moles have won 4, The Tangerines 3 with 1 draw. Earlier this season, the away game saw Ashford take a 3-0 lead in at half time before Razhir Smith-Jones pulled one back for the game to finish 3-1 to Ashford.
