Following the disappointment of the postponement of the game on Tuesday, we are back in action with a home game against Marlow FC.

About Marlow FC

Marlow FC was formed at a meeting at the Compleat Angler Hotel on 22 November 1870. In 1871-72, they competed in the FA Cup losing 2-0 to Maidenhead in the first round. In 1881–82, they reached the FA Cup semi-finals, losing 5–0 to Old Etonians.

In more recent history, the club were in the Isthmian League’s Premier Division until being relegated at the end of the 1994–95 season. Two seasons later they were relegated again. In 2004 they were moved across to Division One West of the Southern League, and were later transferred to Division One Central. In 2011–12 the club finished bottom of this league and were relegated to the Premier Division of the Hellenic League which they won at the first attempt.

They earnt promotion back to Division One Central of the Southern League. They were moved around the leagues a few times before ending up in their current league at the end of the 2017–18.

Last Time Out

When the teams met earlier in the season, a very different looking Moles were on the receiving end of a 8-1 thrasing.

With a draw and defeat so far in March, the Moles hope to get a win against fellow strugglers Corinthian Casuals.

About Corinthian Casuals FC

Corinthian-Casuals was established in 1939 by merging Corinthian and Casuals, and they won the Surrey Senior Cup in 1953-54. They reached the final of the FA Amateur Cup two seasons later and also made it to the semi-finals in the following year. The club reached the first round of the FA Cup in 1965-66, and in the late 1960s and early 1970s, they struggled in the league and were relegated to Division Two. After winning the Spartan League Senior Division, they returned to the Premier Division. The club toured Brazil in 1988-89 and 2001 and switched to the Combined Counties League in 1996. After winning the Surrey Senior Cup in 2010-11, the club was promoted to the Premier Division in 2018 but was relegated at the end of the 2022-23 season.

When the teams met earlier in the season, the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

In their last game, the Moles lost 3-2 away to Thatcham Town whilst the Casuals lost 0-4 at home to Guernsey.

Match Preview: Thatcham Town FC – Away

Thatcham Town FC

Following on from the hard fought draw against South Park FC at the Iconic Stadium, the Moles are back on the road with a trip to Thatcham Town FC.

About Thatcham Town FC

Thatcham Town Football Club was founded in 1894, playing friendly matches only for the first two years at “The Marsh” in Thatcham, England. The club joined the Reading Temperance League in 1896 and remained in this league for the next 57 years, winning Division Two in 1905–06 and winning the Reading Town Senior Cup and the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup in 1935-36.

Thatcham became a founder member of the Hellenic League in 1953 and won the Hellenic League Championship and the Premier Division Cup in 1974-75. The club was awarded the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup by default after a dispute between their opponent and the Berks & Bucks FA. Thatcham moved to Waterside Park during the 1992-93 season and under the management of Jim Greenwood, the club went 33 games unbeaten in 1994-95 and won the Wessex League Cup.

In 1995-96, Thatcham won the league title and reached the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. In 2002-03, the club was awarded the FA Community Standard Charter. Thatcham joined the Southern League in 2005-06 and won the Basingstoke Senior Cup in 2008-09. Thatcham won The Basingstoke Senior Cup in 2011 and won the FA Vase in 2018. After eight seasons in the Southern Football League, Thatcham was placed in the Hellenic Football League Premier Division.

U23 Player of the Month – February

The U23 Development team had some great results in February. They beat Reading YMCA 3-0, Burghfield 7-1 and drew with Hamblden 1-1. The team ended the month at the top of the league.

The shortlist for Player Of The Month were; Zac Baker, Jack Kittelsen, Charlie Martin and Reegan Artman.

And the winner thanks to crucial saves including a penalty against Reading YMCA was Zac Baker.

After the disappointment of the postponement on Saturday, the Moles return to action against the team they played only two weeks ago – South Park (Reigate) FC.

About South Park FC

South Park Football Club was founded in 1897 and initially played on a sports field between Crescent and Church Roads. In 1925, the club formed a partnership with the local cricket club to create the South Park Sports Association, which aimed to improve athletic facilities for both clubs and the community. The association purchased land on Whitehall Lane, which became the permanent home of the club and was renamed “King George’s Field” in 1935. The club went through some tough times during and after World War II but rebounded with the help of donations and improved facilities, including a clubhouse and showers.

In 2001, the club merged with Reigate Town Football Club and renamed itself South Park & Reigate Town Football Club until 2003. The club has since undergone many renovations, gained promotion to higher divisions, and achieved success in various cup competitions. In recent years, the club has had several changes in management, including Harrison Williams taking charge in February 2022, and most recently, the club has renamed itself South Park Reigate in July 2022 to enhance its profile locally and in the wider football community. football pyramid before being promoted to Division One of the Combined Counties League in 2002-03. Following two weeks without a game, the Moles have 8 games to play in March. They start with a home game against Sutton Common Rovers FC.

About Sutton Common Rovers

Sutton Common Rovers were founded in 1978 as Inrad F.C and went through several name changes before they settled on their current name. The club started playing Saturday League football in 2004-5 and progressed into the Combined Counties league in 2007. They narrowly missed promotion in their debut session but were promoted to the Premier Division the following year.

After finishing second in the league behind Chertsey Town, they were promoted to Isthmian league in 2021/22. This also coincided with them reaching the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time, losing a reply to Jersey Bulls.

The Moles lost 4-1 earlier in the season to Sutton Common Rovers FC.

U23 Development Team Looking For Friendlies

Whilst the U23s still have 6 Thames Valley Premier League league games to play, they have some spare Saturdays so are looking for away friendlies on;

Big Win For U23 Development

Whilst the Moles were away at South Park, the U23 Development were at home to Burghfield Reserves.

The team came out as 7-1 winners with goals from Reegan Artman 2, Connor Gonzalez 2, Lewis Lancaster, Sam Applegarth and Jack Kittlesen.

The team remain 3 points clear at the top of the league with 6 games left.

The next game is home at the Iconic Stadium on the 24th Feb KO 2pm against Hambleden.

The first team don’t have a game on that day so why not come down to support the U23 Development team.

Match Preview: Northwood FC – Home

Northwood FC

Following three away games in February, the Moles are back at the Iconic Stadium for their fourth game of the season against Northwood FC.

About Northwood FC

A team was formed in Northwood back in 1899 but Northwood FC in its current form is believed to have been founded in 1926. Their initial history is unclear but they joined the Harrow & Wembley League in 1931 where they won an impressive six titles in a row prior to World War 2 and three more titles after the war. They spent the 1950s and 1960 playing mainly junior-level football.

The club joined the Isthmian League in 1992 via spells in the Hellenic and Spartan Leagues. This was one of their most successful periods which lead them gaining promotion to Step 3 and the Premier Division. They were then switched to the Southern League Premier Division but after relegation were moved back to the Isthmian League Division One North. Another switch back to the Southern League before they were moved back again to their current league – Isthmian League South Central.

We have played Northwood 3 times already this season. The first was a 4-1 away defeat in the league before a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup. We lost the replay 1-0 with a last minute goal for Northwood.

Binfield Junior Football 5 a-side Tournament 2024

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the annual Binfield Football Club Junior Tournament, 2024. Applications will be processed on a “first come, first served” basis. The closing date for applications will be Friday, 19th April 2024.

We are pleased this year to be able to host a ‘girls only tournament’ at age groups U9s, U11s and U13s on Sunday 12th May!

All age groups will operate a 5-a-side tournament and will be open to boys and girls teams in the age groups U7 through U13 (mixed sex teams welcome), and girls only teams in the age groups U9, U11 & U13.

Entry Fee: £45 per team Maximum squad size 8 players.

Your place will only be confirmed once the payment process is completed AND you have received an email confirming that your payment has been received. Start times and rules of the tournament will be provided following acceptance of your entry, but please note that our annual competitions start at 9:00am and could finish as late at 5:30pm on each day and that your age group may have an early start, or a late finish.

Please note that the Bracknell Half Marathon will be taking place on the morning of Sunday 12th May 2024 with various road closures in place. Please allow extra time for your journey.

Appendix

To clarify, a place may be reserved at any time, however, it will only be confirmed once full payment has been received. Entries will be based on a ‘first come – first served’ basis, with fully paid entries taking priority over unpaid reserved teams.

Tournament entry numbers are being reduced for this year, so we would suggest that you get your paid entry to us as soon as you are able:

  • 20 places will be made available in the boys (mixed sex) age groups U7, U8, U9 U10, U11, U12 & U13.
  • 5 places will be made available in the girls only age groups U9 & U11.
  • 10 places will be made available in the girls only age group U13.

Refunds will be given if a replacement team can be found in the event that a confirmed team needs to cancel, or if Binfield Football Club cancels the event.

Subject to the number of teams that register, we aim for teams in each age group, with the exception of U7’s, to play 8 games in 2 phases (each game being 8 mins in duration). The U7 Boys will play, subject to the number of teams registered, 4 games (each game being 12 mins in duration).

Goals will be either 8’ x 4’(U7’s only) or 12’ x 6’ (all other age groups).

Car Parking

Car parking will be available in one of our car parks which are a 2 – 5 minute walk to the pitches. Disabled parking for blue badge holders will be available in the clubhouse car park with wheelchair access to the pitches. Please allow plenty of time to park your car as the narrow lanes close to the club do get extremely busy at the tournament registration times.

Car parking will be £5 to include a program and free access to the Binfield Junior Tournament app.

Please be aware that your age group may need to register from 08:30 and start games at 09:00, or may finish at 17:00/17:30
