FA Play Safe – Know Your Role In Safeguarding

Play Safe

What is Play Safe?

Every season, English football comes together to promote Play Safe. It’s a year-round campaign that amplifies the importance of safeguarding across all levels of the game. Making sure football is safe, fun, and enjoyable for everyone, everywhere, every time.

Why is Play Safe important?

Anyone’s love of football can be taken away by negative behaviour and abuse. Safeguarding prevents this from happening. A Play Safe weekend at the start of each season is there to put safeguarding at the forefront of people’s minds. It reminds everyone to watch, listen, talk, act in every football environment.

The Play Safe Weekend

28/29 September 2024

The Play Safe Weekend comes around every year to celebrate our collective effort, support, and care.

For Play Safe 2024, we’re asking everyone to know their role in safeguarding.

This means no matter what role you have in football, you know your role and responsibility in making it a safe space for all.

For more information on FA Play Safe, visit https://www.englandfootball.com/playsafe

At Binfield FC we fully support the Play Safe weekend. To find out more about the safeguarding policies at Binfield Football Club, visit https://binfieldfc.com/about-binfield-football-club/safeguarding/

Introducing: Farnham Town FC

Farnham Town Fc

The Moles close off September with two away fixtures against teams that are expected to be challenging for promotion at the end of the season. First up is a team that are unbeaten in 53 league game – Farnham Town FC.

Matchday: Tuesday 24th September. KO 7:45pm

Who are Farnham Town FC?

Farnham Town Football Club was established in 1906 through the merger of Farnham Bungs and Farnham Star. Initially, they joined the Surrey Intermediate League, achieving championship titles in the 1929–30 and 1930–31 seasons. The club transitioned to the Surrey Senior League in 1947 and had notable success in the 1960s, winning three consecutive league titles from 1965 to 1968. After a brief stint in the Spartan League, they became part of the London Spartan League in 1975. However, following a challenging period, including relegation and financial difficulties, Farnham spent time in various leagues before stabilizing in the Combined Counties League.

In recent years, Farnham Town has experienced a resurgence, culminating in their promotion to the Premier Division South of the Isthmian League after a successful 2023–24 season. The club has won multiple titles and cups, including the Premier Challenge Cup in 1996 and again in 2016.

Head to head record

The last time the two teams met was in the Extra Preliminary Round of FA Cup back in 2018. The Moles were 2-1 winners on that day.

U12 Lionesses Mascots

For the home game against Hanworth Villa, our U12 Lionesses team were mascots for the day. The girls had a great time having their pictures taken with the players and management – looking at the photos, the players had as much fun as the girls.

At half-time, they had the opportunity to go onto the pitch and have a penalty shootout.

Thanks for coming down girls, we hope you had a memorable afternoon. A big thanks to the players and management team for their time posing for photos.

Hanworth Villa: A Game of Two Halves

The game began very brightly for the Moles, with a few chances, falling to Rahzir Smith-Jones who had the best chance of the opening 15. Daniel Fosu made his home Binfield debut, he marked it with a brave, acrobatic effort which was very well saved by the Hanworth shot-stopper. It was followed by a point-perfect switch from Ethan Gold to Smith-Jones who with some good footwork, let fly just over the bar. There wasn’t just one debut, there was two. The other, Kickie Dzimba who marked his first 23 minutes in Binfield red, with an expert strike. Last week it was an assist for Fosu, this week it was his first goal in the Binfield strip. Finishing sublimely in the 40th minute, allowing Binfield to enter the break with a two goal advantage.

The second 45 began extremely quiet, with most of the football being played in the middle. The return of Glenn Gabriel lasted 63 minutes, after he was replaced by Rechan Espirit. Hanworth halved the moles’ advantage in the 70th minute with twenty left to play, finished by Dylan Randall. After a great performance, Rahzir Smith-Jones was replaced by Duarte Surpanu as he looked to inject some more energy into the Binfield frontline. The Iconic also welcomed Reece Jones Jr back, after some appearances last season. His afternoon and new man Kickie ended 9 minutes from time, being replaced by Daniel Lewis and Lucas Surpanu respectively. A final change of the afternoon saw Jamie Hilton be replaced by Charlie George. Hanworth heartbreakingly found an equaliser in the second minute of injury time, with a quality strike.

The afternoon where the Moles debuted their new home strip, resulted in a point.

We now focus our attention on Tuesday where we face the travel to league leaders Farnham Town with a 7:45pm KO.
