On the eve of our FA Cup game against Didcot Town, we take a look back at some recent memorable games in the FA Cup. The Moles first entered the FA Cup in the 2009-10 season when they lost 5-3 to Colliers Wood United.
2022-23 – Tonbridge Angels
One of the Moles biggest giant killings was in the 2022-23 season when they welcomed National League South side Tonbridge Angels to Hill Farm Lane. Binfield went into the tie as the underdogs against the team who played two divisions above them.
The game was goalless at half-time but that changed in the 58th minute when captain Sean Moore opening the scoring. The lead was doubled by Johnny Efedje in the 72nd minute. Lewis Pegg and Brad Pagliaroli put the game out reach of the Angels for the Moles to progress to the 3rd qualifying round for the first time ever.
2023-24 – Wokingham Town
In the following season, the Moles had a local derby against Wokingham Town. In front of a record crowd at Lowther Road, the Moles progressed into the next round with goals from Dan Lewis and Noah Chengun.
2024-25 – Longlevens
The following year, the Moles played Wokingham Town again this time at home. After beating them 3-1, they drew Longlevens away – a team they knew from their time in the Hellenic Premier league.
The Moles took the lead in the 6th minute with a goal from Tyler D’Cruz. Josh McMenemy doubled the lead in the 17th minute before Tyler added his second in the 20th minute. Rahzir Smith-Jones and Mitch Parker scored to take the lead to 5-0 at half-time.
Tyler D’Cruz completed his hat-trick in the second half before substitute Charlie George scored a quick brace and Mitch Parker got his second.
The resulting 9-1 win was the highest score for the Moles in the FA Cup.
