Binfield FC fell to a narrow defeat at the Memorial Ground, as a late goal condemned the Moles to a frustrating loss despite a spirited second-half display.
Manager Ross Weatherstone made changes from the previous Saturday’s fixture, with D’Cruz and Ceesay returning to the starting XI.
The game appeared to be heading for a goalless draw as both sides struggled to find a breakthrough. Binfield came closest in the 80th minute when good work from Trotman down the left flank created a promising opportunity, with the ball eventually breaking to Mead but he was unable to test the keeper, getting his shot badly wrong.
It proved to be a costly miss. Four minutes later, Wallace broke the deadlock for Hartley Wintney, firing the hosts in front with just six minutes remaining to give the home side a 1-0 lead which proven to be the final score.
After the game, Manager Ross commented “Not the result we wanted! based on the spectacle of the game, it was always going to be a mistake that would swing the game & unfortunately for us, we made the error! The team is strong & we will reset & be ready to give everything over the Easter weekend.”
Next up is a home game against Southall FC on Saturday 4th April 3pm KO.
