The Moles Pickup Valuable Points Against Littlehampton

If you looked 6-pointer up in the dictionary, it would probably list this game; one team occupying the last relegation spot and the other team just one point and one position above them.

The last time the two teams met was a cold and wet day down in December when the Moles were 4-0 winners. This was the complete opposite; a warm spring day with a clear blue sky. The team had four changes from their defeat to AFC Portchester on Tuesday as Fubler, McMenemy, Fashanu & D’Cruz all come into the Starting XI.

The Moles thought they had taken the lead in the 10th minute when Josh McMenemy headed the ball past Littlehampton Billy Collings. However, the goal was disallowed – we think for a foul whilst heading the ball but to be honest we don’t really know.

The home team did take the lead in the Amari Fashnau rounded the keeper and manage to slot the ball through the legs of two defenders. This turned out to be the only goal of the game.

No matter how hard the Moles pushed they just couldn’t get past the Littlehampton keeper who managed to pull off some great saves to keep the score down. In the dying minutes of the game, the Moles had to close up shop themselves to stop Littlehampton sneaking a late equaliser.

After the game, manager Ross Weatherstone said “Thanks to everyone at Binfield Soccer School who attended, you all truly helped us get that win over the line, a proper 1 club feel. Great to keep the sheet clean, on another day, we could have scored 5 easily but the 3pts in the right direction 🙌 bring on Tuesday”.

An important point for the Moles which lifts them another place higher and closer to another season at Step 4.

Next up on Tuesday is another home game when they welcome promotion chasing Westfield to the Iconic Stadium.
