This game was the very definition of a six-pointer; Fareham Town bottom of the table and 18 points from safety against The Moles who were sitting in 19th place in the relegation zone on goal difference.
The game started with chances for both teams but neither being able to convert. Moles striker Kickie Dzimba had several attempts on goal but unable to get past Fareham keeper Declan Mccarthy. The Creeksiders took the lead in the 23rd minute when Jamie Arnold had the space to head the ball past keeper CJ Fubler.
For the Moles, the combination of Toby Thompson and Lamin Ceesay were causing problems for the home side. They worked together for the Moles reply when Toby pulled the ball back to the edge of the box for Lamin to fire it in. Less than 5 minutes later, Toby put in another cross that was met by the head of Owen Smith for his 3rd goal of the season.
The Moles were forced into a substituion at half-time when Woking loanee Quincy Patterson replaced Lamin Ceesay. The second-half was a physical afair with both sides battling to defend and to create chances to score. Binfield extended their lead when Kickie Dzimba managed to avoid being offside and put the ball past Mccarthy. The Moles had thought they had put the game out of reach when Patterson put the ball in the net only for it to be ruled offside.
This performance was the epitome of the Moles squad – despite going behind they never gave up and battled to gain 3 valuable points to lift them out of the relegation zone.

Next up is a “home” game against second place Hanworth Villa on Saturday 21st. Due to the continuing wet weather, the game has been moved to the Racecourse Ground, home of Ascot United with an earlier KO of 2:30pm.
