Moles Lose To The Field

Following their mid-week league cup defeat to Ramsgate, the Moles were back in league action with a trip to Woking to play Westfield FC.

The Moles made one change from their usual starting eleven with Monty Brady returning from injury to replace Natty Boayke. Ex-Mole Ethan Lindo lined up for Westfield.

The first half ended goalless with few chances for both teams. However, it didn’t take Westfield long to get on the scoresheet. Tom Dyer had a shot saved by CJ but slotted home the rebound. The Moles had a few chances but nothing that really stretched the Westfield keeper. The home team doubled their lead when Shamal Edwards scored on his debut after signing from South Park (Reigate). Shortly afterwards
Tom Dryer was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.

The Moles got a life-line when Kyle Daniel-Spray was brought down in the box and Amari Fashanu slotted home the penalty. Westfield put the game out of reach when Finn Evans scored in the 3rd minute of injury time.

Ordinarily losing to the team third in the league wouldn’t be too bad. However, with the current run of form this felt like a big loss. Next up, the Moles welcome AFC Portchester to the Iconic Stadium on Tuesday evening – weather permitting.
