The Moles welcomed league leaders Leatherhead FC to the Iconic Stadium for what was sure to be a tough game under floodlights.
The Moles soaked up some early Leatherhead pressure before taking the lead in the 19th minute. After failing to beat the offside line minutes earlier, Fashanu times his run perfectly after being slid in by Coles and makes no mistake with the finish. They couldn’t hold on and Leatherhead’s Hogan got the equaliser less than 10 minutes later. The Moles were reduced to 10 men in the 45th minute when Levi Heholt picked up a second yellow. Hogan then doubled the lead for Leatherhead on the stroke of half-time from a spot kick.
Leatherhead then started the second half strong scoring a third from Breckon. Despite being down to 10 men the Moles never gave in and in the 75th minute, they pulled one back when Natty Boayke put one past the Tanners keeper Wheeler. The Moles kept the pressure on trying to snatch the equaliser but just couldn’t find the back of the net.
Another frustrating defeat for the Moles but this time with lots of positives to take away. They now travel down to the coast to play Moneyfields FC on Saturday.
