The Moles Gain Velocity….

The Moles welcomed Hartley Wintney to the Iconic Stadium for the second time in a month for a Velocity Cup second round tie. The Moles enjoyed a run to the semi-final last season before losing to Billericay Town.

The Moles named a changed lineup due to suspensions and injuries. In a lively first period, the Moles took the lead in the 21st minute when a move started by Logan Coles, a pass from Ejiro Abbey and Amari Fashnau tapped in the ball from a yard out.

In the second half, the Moles had plenty of opportunities but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Hartley pulled one back in the 80th minute with a goal from Ewing. The Moles pushed on and pulled one back just 4 minutes later. Boakye creates half a yard from the edge of the box and squeezes his shot into the corner to put the Moles back ahead.

The Moles didn’t sit back on this lead and spent the last 10 minutes peppering the Hartley goal with shots. They were unlucky not to score another goal (or two).

A much improved performance from the Moles and something they can take into their next game – an away trip to Hendon on Saturday.
