Match Report – Leatherhead – Away

For the last time this season, the Moles were on the road – visiting Fetcham Grove to play Leatherhead FC.

In the first half, the Moles had several chances. Ethan Lindo had a one on one with the keeper and went around him but his shot was just wide. Razhir Smith-Jones had a shot which was just wide of the post. The hosts had several chances of their own but most of them were denied by the woodwork. The teams went in at half-time level 0-0.

The Moles broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when Razhir played a 1-2 with Logan Coles before Rechan Espirit fired the ball into the bottom corner. This woke this hosts up and then scored two goals in quick succession – Franzen Jones in the 56th and Barlett-Antwi in the 59th.

The Moles looked like they would keep the score at 2-1 but Leatherhead scored two late goals – a second for Bartlett-Antwi in the 89th minute and then his hat trick in the 93rd minute.

Despite the defeat, the Moles are now safe from relegation as Guernsey lost. We welcome the Green Lions to the Iconic Stadium on Thursday night before we face league champions Farnham Town for the final game of the season on Saturday.
