Who are Billericay Town FC?
Billericay Town Football Club was established in 1880 as Billericay Football Club. Initially, they played in the Romford & District League from 1890 until World War I, also competing in the Mid-Essex League where they won Division Two titles in 1912–13, 1931–32, and 1932–33. The club adopted its current name, Billericay Town, in 1946. In 1966, they became founder members of the Essex Olympian League, winning the league and League Cup double in the 1969–70 and 1970–71 seasons. This success led to their participation in the Essex Senior League from 1971, where they won the title in 1972–73 and again in 1974–75 and 1975–76.
Billericay Town’s success continued with FA Vase wins in 1976 and 1977, and a third title in 1979. They joined the Athenian League in 1977, winning it twice, before moving to the Isthmian League in 1979. The club experienced a period of promotions and relegations within the Isthmian League divisions. In recent years, they won the Isthmian League Premier Division in 2011–12 and again in 2017–18, earning promotions to higher divisions12. The club was taken over by Glenn Tamplin in 2016, leading to significant changes and signings, but he left in 2019. The club is currently owned by a consortium of local businessmen and competes in the Isthmian League Premier Division after being relegated from the National League South in 2021–22.
