The Moles fell to a narrow defeat at Whitehall Lane after a stunning strike sealed the points for South Park
It was the hosts who had the first chance to take the lead. Brendan Murphy-McVey’s free kick called Killian Barrett into action but he saved well to his left.
The Moles then began to attempt to control proceedings but were unable to unlock the South Park defence with shots from Rechan Esprit and captain Dan Lewis both well blocked.
Then on 28 minutes, South Park took the lead. Jamarie Brissett dispossessed Elijas Bagdonavicius and drove at the Binfield defence. He did well to stay on his feet past Jack Matton and stuck the ball well. Barrett again made a good save but the ball fell to Craig McGee who was able to take a touch and place it into the left corner.
South Park then grew into the game and had a couple of chance to double their lead before half time. Brissett broke through the Moles defence and took the ball around Barrett but some great covering defending from Luke Wayborn prevented the shot. Then McGee couldn’t keep his header down from a corner.
The Moles started the better half the brighter team and after a period of pressure they got their equaliser when Luke Wayborn’s throw created a scramble in the box and Dontaye Whittaker was able to poke the ball home.
The goal sparked the Moles into life briefly as Rechan Esprit latched onto a loose ball but his shot was blocked and went behind for a corner.
However, the home team retook the lead through a moment of brilliance. Kelvin Manuel Massango did well to get away from Connor Jeanes, cut inside and curl one into the top right corner giving Barrett no chance.
The Moles pushed for an equaliser from set-pieces. Wayborn’s long throw caused more uncertainty but the ball wouldn’t fall for a Moles player. Then, five minutes from time, Dan Lewis was unable to keep his header down from 7 yards out.
After three games on the road, the Moles return to the Iconic on Tuesday to face Northwood.
